COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMISSION
Community Center, Village Hall
Thursday, November 6, 2008
The Community Relations Commission (CRC) of the Village of Mount Prospect met Thursday, November
6, 2008, at Mount Prospect Village Hall located at 50 South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois
I. CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Tolbert called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL
Present:
Chairman Tolbert
Commissioner Ortiz
Commissioner Muench
Commissioner Fuller (arrived at 7:15 p.m.)
Absent:
Commissioner Parikh
Also in Attendance:
Robert Rzepecki, Deputy Chief of Police
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Commissioner Muench asked for a correction to the Roll Call. The 7:15 p.m. arrival should be for
Commissioner Fuller. A motion was made by Commissioner Muench and seconded by Commissioner
Ortiz to approve the minutes of the September 10, 2008, meeting as corrected. The minutes were
unanimously approved by a voice vote.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Suburban Mosaic Book Program
Chairman Tolbert attended the committee meeting and is very pleased with the progress of the program.
The Mount Prospect Public Library is participating this year.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Commission's recommendations were sent to the Village Board and approved. Chairman Tolbert
thanked everyone for their time and effort during the CDBG grant process.
Forum on Race & Ethnic Diversity
No discussion.
Interfaith Council
Chairman Tolbert reported that the Interfaith Council Chairman asked if the Commission had any interest
in participating in a joint project, possibly a dinner. The dinner would bring together different ethnic and
religious groups to get to know one another. Commissioner Muench would like to see programs similar to
those offered in Skokie and Des Plaines. The Des Plaines Ministerial Council is holding one of these
events at the Des Plaines Library this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A motion was made by Ms.
Ortiz and seconded by Ms. Fuller to explore this project further with the Interfaith Council. After a brief
discussion, it was approved unanimously by a voice vote. Chairman Tolbert will attend the next Interfaith
Council Meeting and report back to the Commission

V. NEW BUSINESS
Chairman Tolbert reminded everyone about the Holiday Reception on November 25th.

VII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 7:29 p.m. after a motion was made by Commissioner Muench and seconded
by Commissioner Fuller. The motion was approved unanimously.
