AN ORDINANCE establishing charges
for the collection and removal of
residential garbage and rubbish.
BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of
the "'lillage of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois:
Section 1.. Beginning May I, 1956, each family unit within the
Village of Mount Prospect shall pay the sum of $1. 25 per family unit

per month for the collection and disposal of residential garbage, rubbish,
refuse or waste. Said charge shall be payable in advance and shall be
billed quarterly.
Section 2. Effective May 1, 1956, all commercial businesses
or industrial establishments shall be required to make private arrange-
ments for the collection and disposal of all garbage, refuse or waste in
a prompt and sanitary manner.
Section 3. All garbage shall be wrappedin paper and placed in a
metal container equipped with cover and said container shall not exceed
twenty-four gallons in capacity; and all rubbish, refuse and waste, cans
and bottles shall be placed in a suitable container not exceeding twenty-
four gallons in capacity.
Section 4. No more than two containers shall be included in the
pick-up as herein set forth during each week. Said containers shall be
placed on the parkway or alley if garbage collections are made from
alleys, on the day designated for the collection of said garbage, rubbish
or waste.
Section 5. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
to burn or bury garbage within the Village of Mount Prospect or to
permit same to accumulate in any manner so as to create a nuisance
and to attract flies, vermin or rats, provided, however, that approved
gasinators or such similar approved equipment when properly installed
and inspected may be used for the burning of garbage and also, properly
installed kitchen garbage disposal units maybe used for the disposal of
garbage into the sewer lines within the Village; and any person firm or
corporation violating the provisions of this section shall be fined not more
than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each offense. Each day that a
violation is permitted to exist constitutes a separate offense.
Section 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage, approval and publication according to law.
