Time is wasted because there is so much time available." Our Mission - "The Mount Prospect Special Events Commission creates quality events that celebrate as well as honor special occasions, special people, and the ideals that make Mount Prospect a great place to live. The pleasure and entertainment of the public is our primary objective and we will always strive to do that in a memorable way." Chairman's Expectations - I. Attendance - As an appointed member of this commission, you are expected to attend most of the meetings. We will all have occasional conflicts that will prevent our attendance. In those cases, please let me know in advance. Being absent 4 out of 12 meetings may be considered excessive. Please avoid unexcused absences. 2. Participation - We have all been selected for this commission for our talents, abilities, or just plain good looks. Each member is expected to give of themselves to the group. Taking on responsibilities is the cornerstone of our effectiveness. Many hands make light work. 3. Honesty & Humility - No one member "is" the Special Events Commission. Only as a synchronized group can we accomplish the most in the time we have. No discussion is off-limits at the meetings. In fact, conflict at the meetings is the only place conflict should be found. Because only there, can we get the full consensus and varied opinions of the members. It is the best place to resolve differences in opinions and procedures. A member who walks away from a meeting with an unspoken issue, is a member who is not fulfilling their duties as an appointed member of the commission. You will need courage and conviction to say "I have to be honest, I don't think that is right." We must check our egos at the door and be open to the thoughts and opinions of others. As a group, we will reach a consensus. Once reached, we agree to honor those decisions. Please notify Tom if you: . Will be unavoidably absent from a meeting. . Wish to add an agenda item (by the Saturday prior to the meeting). . Wish to submit a report in your absence.
