Information
On Tuesday, August 4, Village staff met via conference call with COO Eric Yetta and in person
with store managers Jennifer Kulb and Michael Sousa to discuss Mom's Organic Market's
request for a Class P-3 Liquor License. The Class P-3 License authorizes the retail sale of
packaged wine and beer only in conjunction with a full -service grocery store over 10,000
square feet. MOM's will occupy the former Northern Tools at Randhurst Commons.
MOM's was founded in 1987 by owner Scott Nash, who began the business at the age of 22
with an initial investment of $100. The business started as a home -delivery operation from Mr.
Nash's garage in California delivering organic produce. Over the past three decades, MOM's
has expanded to locations in six states and the District of Columbia, employs more than 1,000
individuals, and established a company culture centered on its mission, to protect and restore
the environment. The Mount Prospect location will be MOM's first store in Illinois, with a
second Illinois location in Naperville anticipated to open shortly thereafter.
The proposed MOM's Market will occupy approximately 24,000 sq ft and offer a full selection of
grocery essentials in all departments. The store will feature high -quality 100% organic
produce as well as fresh and organic dairy, cheese, meats and bakery items with an emphasis
on providing customers with products suitable for preparing meals at home. This store is
expected to employ 30-45 full/part-time employees. The proposed hours of operation are
Monday through Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sundays from 9:00 am. to 8:00 p.m.
An opening date of October 16 is anticipated.
Mr. Nash has handed in a complete application with required documentation and has
submitted the required background check in association with the liquor license application.
Pursuant to the Liquor Code, all managers and individuals involved with the sale and service of
alcohol must complete a certified liquor servers training course. If the Village Board views this
application favorably, an Ordinance establishing a new "Class P-3" License would need to be
adopted.

1. Approve ordinance increasing the number of Class T-Y liquor licenses.
2. Action at the discretion of Village Board.
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of an ordinance creating a new Class "T-3" license for MOM's
Organic Market.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE
VILLAGE CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code
of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses
authorized. Said list is hereby amended. This Ordinance will increase the number of Class "P-3" licenses
by (1) MOM'S ORGANIC MARKET INC. d/b/a MOM'S ORGANIC MARKET located
