September 11 25th anniversary PROCLAMATION Honoring the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001 WHEREAS, September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, a tragic day that forever changed our nation and claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent people; and WHEREAS, we remember with solemn respect the men, women, and children who lost their lives in New York City, at the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and extend our continued sympathy to their families, friends, and loved ones; and WHEREAS, we honor the courage and sacrifice of the firefighters, police officers, emergency medical personnel, military personnel, public servants, and ordinary citizens who responded with extraordinary bravery and compassion in the face of unimaginable tragedy; and WHEREAS, the events of September 11 demonstrated the strength, resilience, and unity of the American people, as communities across our nation came together to help one another and support those in need; and WHEREAS, twenty-five years later, we remain committed to preserving the memory of those we lost, recognizing those who served and sacrificed, and ensuring that future generations understand the significance of that day and the enduring importance of service, compassion, courage, and unity. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby recognize September 11, 2026, as a Day of Remembrance for the 25th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, and call upon all residents to pause and remember the victims, honor the heroes, support the families who continue to carry the loss, and reaffirm our shared commitment to a community founded upon peace, unity, compassion, and respect.
