Kensington Road Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 j BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING MAY 21, 2026 OPEN SESSION MINUTES Phone (847) 870-5656 1 CHAIRMAN POWERS CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 1:05 PM AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE ROOM 2 Roll Call: James Powers, Chairman Rockne Bork, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner Staff Present: Michael Eterno, Police Chief Joseph Kanupke, Deputy Police Chief Lisa Schillinger, Executive Assistant 3 CITIZENS TO BE HEARD — No one in attendance. 4 CLOSED SESSION —CHAIRMAN POWERS ASKED FOR A MOTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 1:05 PM. Motion Unanimously Approved Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal, of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body for the public body to determine its validity. 4.1. Conduct Police Department New Police Officer oral interviews EA Schillinger was dismissed at 1:07 PM. The Board took a short recess and resumed Closed Session at 1:17 PM. The Board conducted oral interviews as scheduled (see attached). The Board took a break for dinner at 5:02 PM and returned to Closed Session at 5:45 PM. A motion was made by Commissioner Busse and seconded by Commissioner Bork to return to Open Session at 9:10 PM. Motion Unanimously Approved The Board returned to Open Session at 9:10 PM. Roll call: Chairman Powers, Commissioner Bork, Commissioner Busse, Also present: Michael Eterno, Joseph Kanupke, Bart Tweedie, Lisa Schillinger 5 OLD BUSINESS - NONE 6 NEW BUSINESS — 6.1 VOTE TO APPROVE POLICE OFFICER ELIGIBILITY LIST INCLUDING REMOVING CANDIDATES FROM CONSIDERATION BASED ON THE ORAL INTERVIEW AND/OR INITIAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION All candidates were discussed in closed session. A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to certify the list of 23 candidates (see attached). Motion Unanimously Approved Pagel Special Special Meeting Minutes 5-21-2026 OPEN SESSION 10 ADJOURNMENT - With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to adjourn the meeting at 9:37 pm.
