Kensington Road Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 j BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS SPECIAL MEETING APRIL 21, 2026 OPEN SESSION MINUTES Phone (847) 870-5656 1 CHAIRMAN POWERS CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 1 PM AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE ROOM 2 Roll Call: James Powers, Chairman Rockne Bork, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner William Knee, Commissioner Staff Present: Thomas Wang, Fire Chief Joe Vena, Deputy Fire Chief Michael Eterno, Police Chief Bart Tweedie, Deputy Police Chief Joseph Kanupke, Deputy Police Chief Lisa Schillinger, Executive Assistant Also Present: Mike Falese, RMA Representative 3 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.1 Open Session minutes of March 2, 2026— Commissioner Bork made a motion to approve the minutes, and Commissioner Busse seconded the motion. Motion UnanimouslV Approved 4 CITIZENS TO BE HEARD — No one in attendance. 5 FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE — Chief Wang updated the Board on the following: ✓ Firefighter Scott Slosden has decided to retire in the near future ✓ Three academy recruits are doing well ✓ Asked the Board to review the Rules and Regulations Red Line changes which were proposed, in preparation for approval in the fall 6 POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE-7 Chief Eterno updated the Board on the following: ✓ Officer Ryan McClellan will be graduating from the academy on April 23 d ✓ Kobe Frenette and Joseph Podczerwinski will start on April 27th and will be attending the academy beginning May 3rd 7 CLOSED SESSION —CHAIRMAN POWERS ASKED FOR A MOTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 1:06 PM. Motion Unanimously Approved 7.1 Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body for the public body to determine its validity. 7.2 Closed Session minutes of March 2, 2026 Pagel Special Special Meeting Minutes 4-21-2026 OPEN SESSION 7.3 Conduct Police Department Sergeant Candidate Oral Interviews A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Knee to return to Open Session at 7:09 pm. Motion Unanimously Approved The Board returned to Open Session at 7:09 pm. Roll call: Chairman Powers, Commissioner Bork, Commissioner Knee, Also present: Michael Eterno, Joseph Kanupke, Bart Tweedie, Lisa Schillinger 8 OLD BUSINESS 8.1. Discussion of changes to Rules and Regulations — Tabled until the fall 9 NEW BUSINESS — 9.1. Set interview dates and number of candidates to interview for new recruit oral interviews The Board discussed and decided to hold interviews for two days. Commissioners will email availability to L. Schillinger 10 ADJOURNMENT - With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Knee to adjourn the meeting at 7:11 pm.
