1. Womens History Month proclamation 2026
PROCLAMATION
Women's History Month
March 2026
WHEREAS, Women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic
contributions to the growth and strength of our Nation in countless recorded and unrecorded
ways; and
WHEREAS, through leadership, innovation, and ingenuity, generations of women have made
significant contributions in arts, science, medicine, technology, business, politics, and
entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, whether serving in elected positions across America, leading groundbreaking civil
rights movements, serving our country courageously in the military, or programming
revolutionary technologies, generations of women who knew their gender was no obstacle to
what they could accomplish have long stirred new ideas and opened new doors, having a
profound and positive impact on our community; and
WHEREAS, the National Women's History Month's theme for 2026 is "Leading the Change:
Women Shaping a Sustainable Future"; and
WHEREAS, the theme expands our understanding of sustainability beyond environmental
concerns. It encompasses financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership succession,
and intergenerational equity. Whether developing green technologies, advancing economic
justice, strengthening education systems, or building civic power, women are designing
blueprints for sustainable transformation. This theme affirms that shaping a sustainable future
means fostering systems that support both people and the planet.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hofert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim March 2026 as
Women's History Month
and call upon the citizens of Mount Prospect to observe this month and honor and celebrate
the collective strength of women who have inspired generations. I also invite all citizens to visit
