Kensington Road Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 (847)870-5656 BOARD OF FIRE AND POLICE COMMISSIONERS REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 2, 2026 OPEN SESSION MINUTES 1 CHAIRMAN POWERS CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 5:51 PM AT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE ROOM 2 Roll Call: James Powers, Chairman Rockne Bork, Commissioner Mark Busse, Commissioner Staff Present: Thomas Wang, Fire Chief Michael Eterno, Police Chief Joseph Kanupke, Deputy Police Chief Lisa Schillinger, Executive Assistant 3 APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.1 Open Session minutes of January 5, 2026– Commissioner Bork made a motion to approve the minutes, and Commissioner Busse seconded the motion. Motion Unanimously Approved 4 CITIZENS TO BE HEARD – No one in attendance. 5 FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE – Chief Wang updated the Board on the following: Great teamwork by the department in responding to a significant fire last month which prevented a second home from catching fire Hiring: Three new hires are currently in the Academy and doing well 6 POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE – Chief Eterno updated the Board on the following: Officer Ryan McClellan is currently in the Academy and doing well Five officers are currently in the Field Training program and progressing well Sergeant’s exam orientation is tomorrow (2/3) at 9am 7 CLOSED SESSION – CHAIRMAN POWERS ASKED FOR A MOTION TO GO INTO CLOSED SESSION A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to go into Closed Session at 5:55 PM. Motion Unanimously Approved 7.1 Personnel 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1) - The appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body for the public body to determine its validity. 7.2 Closed Session minutes of January 5, 2026 7.3 Discussion and selection of Sergeant’s examination BOFPC interview questions A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to return to Open Session at 7:09 pm. DISCUSSION AND APPROVAL OF THE 2026 POLICE OFFICER RECRUITING PROCESS INCLUDING THE VENDOR AND TIMELINE. A motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by Commissioner Busse to approve the vendor and timeline for the Police Officer New Recruit hiring process. Motion Unanimously Approved 9.3. APPROVAL OF SERGEANT’S EXAMINATION BOFPC INTERVIEW QUESTIONS FROM RMA – The Board agreed to further discuss at the March meeting and the vote was tabled. 10 ADJOURNMENT - With no further business, a motion was made by Commissioner Bork and seconded by CommissionerBusseto adjourn the meetingat 7:11pm.Motion Unanimously Approved Minutes transcribed by Lisa Schillinger, BOFPC Secretary.
