Ramadan Proclamation Recognizing the Observance of Ramadan WHEREAS, Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar and is observed by Muslims around the world as a sacred period of fasting, prayer, reflection, and community; and WHEREAS, during Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, engage in acts of charity and compassion, and renew their commitment to values of patience, humility, generosity, and peace; and WHEREAS, the observance of Ramadan culminates in the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, a joyful holiday marked by gratitude, fellowship, and giving; and WHEREAS, the Muslim community has made and continues to make meaningful contributions to the cultural, social, economic, and civic life of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, recognizing religious and cultural observances fosters mutual understanding, respect, and unity among people of all backgrounds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED, that I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby recognize and honor the observance of Ramadan and extend best wishes to our Muslim community for a month filled with peace, reflection, and spiritual growth.
