PROCLAMATION
Go Red for Cardiovascular Awareness
February 6, 2026
WHEREAS, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women and men, claiming
more lives each year than all forms of cancer combined; and
WHEREAS, heart disease and stroke are largely preventable through education, healthy lifestyle
choices, early detection, and access to quality healthcare; and
WHEREAS, Go Red Day raises awareness about the impact of cardiovascular disease,
particularly among women, and encourages individuals to learn their risk factors and take
action to protect their heart health; and
WHEREAS, wearing red on Go Red Day symbolizes the commitment of our community to fight
heart disease and to support research, education, and advocacy efforts that save lives; and
WHEREAS, promoting cardiovascular health strengthens families, workplaces, and
communities by improving overall quality of life;
WHEREAS, through the leadership and dedication of Liam Seymour, a Prospect High School
student -athlete and 2026 American Heart Association Teen of Impact candidate, awareness of
this vital cause was raised. inspiring unity and collective action across our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim February 6, 2026, as
Go Red for Cardiovascular Awareness
in the Village of Mount Prospect, and encourage all residents, organizations, schools, and
businesses to participate by wearing red, spreading awareness, and supporting heart -healthy
lifestyles.
