Information
In February 2024, the Village Manager and Leadership team met with owners Michael Brown
and Denise Brown regarding the opening of a cafe location in Mount Prospect. Since that
meeting, the Brown's have expanded their business and opened a new venture in downtown
Mount Prospect, located on the first -floor of HQ Residences luxury apartment complex. CoCo &
Maple opened in October 2025 and is now seeking a Class "F-3" liquor license at their 130 E.
Northwest Hwy location. The Class ""F-3" license provides for full service of alcohol at dining
tables along with a lounge component.
The Brown's bring extensive knowledge to the restaurant industry, having opened CoCo & Blu
in downtown Arlington Heights in 2019. Through quality coffees, cocktails, and conversation,
the Browns aim to create an inviting atmosphere that feels like an extension of their living
room —a place where guests can feel comfortable, happy and well-fed. Their son, Nate Brown,
is also an owner and will manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.
The newly constructed cafe occupies approximately 3,348 sq. ft. and includes indoor dining
seating for 53, indoor bar seating for 11 and another outdoor patio space with seating for 56
totaling a seating capacity of 129. The Maple Street patio will feature a sound wall to reduce
train noise, fire tables and catenary overhead lighting.
The restaurant currently operates daily from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Upon issuance of a liquor
license, the proposed hours of operation would be 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday through
Wednesday, until 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays and until 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The
daytime menu includes handcrafted coffee and teas, freshly baked pastries, cookies and top-
quality seasonal daytime offerings such as quiches, salads, soups and sandwiches. Evening
service will feature a variety of appetizer boards, entrees, homemade desserts, hand-crafted
signature cocktails, and wines.
Michael, Denise, and Nate are all Bassett certified and understand that all employees serving
alcohol must also be certified. A complete application along with fees and required documents
have been submitted. Should the Village Board view this application favorably, adoption of an
Ordinance creating a new "Class F-3" license would be required.

Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of an ordinance creating a new Class ""F-3" license and welcomes
CoCo & Maple to Downtown Mount Prospect.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS ACTING IN THE EXERCISE OF THEIR HOME RULE POWERS:
SECTION ONE: That in accordance with Subsection A of Section 13.108 of Chapter 13 of the Village Code
of Mount Prospect, as amended, the Corporate Authorities shall determine the number of Liquor Licenses
available in each Classification and shall establish a list specifying the number of Liquor Licenses
authorized. Said list is hereby amended. This Ordinance will increase the number of Class "F-3" licenses
by (1) CoCo & Maple LLC d/b/a CoCo & Maple located ;
