PROCLAMATION
Veterans Day
November 11, 2025
WHEREAS, in 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the first Veterans Day proclamation
calling on our nation to "pay appropriate homage to the veterans of all its wars who have
contributed so much to the preservation of this nation;" and
WHEREAS, the words of that first proclamation still ring true: "Let us solemnly remember the
sacrifice of all those who fought so valiantly on the sea, in the air and on foreign shores, to
preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting
and enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain;" and
WHEREAS, "Service to Our Nation," the theme for this year's Veterans Day, pays tribute to the
unity and honor of all veterans, regardless of when or where they served, under a single
American flag, emphasizing a shared purpose and commitment to freedom; and
WHEREAS, the men and women of our armed forces continue to be an inspiration to all of us
through their determination, courage, leadership, and devotion in service to our community and
country; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of the Village of Mount Prospect will never forget and pay homage to our
military community, both active and inactive, for their contributions, dedication, and
commitment to the cause of our freedom.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
honor November 11, 2025 as
Veterans Day
in the Village of Mount Prospect, we proudly join the rest of our nation in saluting and giving
special honor and recognition to the men and women who served us in our armed forces.
