Squad P- 14, which is a fully marked 2020 Dodge Charger, was involved in a traffic collision on November 13th, 2024, and was extensively damaged. The Village was not at fault for this crash. The Village's insurance carrier, Intergovernmental Risk Management Agency (IRMA), evaluated the vehicle and determined P-14 to be a total loss. ❑inmi-q-qion Staff would like to replace the totaled P-14 Dodge Charger with a 2025 Ford Explorer all -wheel drive (AWD) hybrid pursuit rated utility vehicle. The Police Department has utilized Ford Explorers for the past 15 years, primarily as frontline patrol vehicles. During this time, staff have found them to be reliable. The Village is a member of the Northwest Municipal Conference (NWMC), which has pricing available through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC). The 2025 Ford Explorer all - wheel drive hybrid pursuit rated vehicles are included in Joint Purchasing Contract #204. These vehicles are available for purchase through Currie Motors in Frankfort, IL. Funding for the replacement of this vehicle will be shared between two sources; IRMA and the Village's 2025 Annual Budget. IRMA has provided an insurance disbursement in the amount of $22,,510,, for the totaled vehicle. In addition, funds are provided in the 2025 Annual Budget under the Community Investment Program section and listed under account number 061.60.90.00.1.708.660.003, in the amount of $54,882. Between the $22,,510 from IRMA and the $54,,882 in the Village's 2025 Budget / Vehicle Replacement Program, there is $77,392 set aside to purchase and outfit a replacement vehicle for P-14. The attached order form from Currie Motors shows the Vehicle the Police Department is seeking to purchase is $50,038. Staff anticipates upfitting costs for this new squad car to be approximately $17,000. This would involve the purchase and installation of emergency equipment and the exterior police markings. Between the purchase price of the Vehicle ($50,038) and the estimated cost to upfit the Vehicle ($17,,000), we anticipate the overall cost of this purchase would be approximately $67,038. while there is $77,392 set aside in Village funds to purchase and outfit this car, we do not anticipate using all of those funds; however, an not to exceed amount of $77,392 serves as a potential contingency, if needed to address the Variability in upfitting costs. The Vehicle being replaced was designated a total loss by IRMA. Fallowing this determination, all police equipment, emergency lighting, and communications equipment was removed from the vehicle. IRMA then proceeded with the sale of the vehicle to a licensed scrapper and the Village received the corresponding insurance payout for the total loss of P-14. Alternatives 1. Accept the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative bid for the purchase of one (1) 2025 Ford Explorer all -wheel drive (AWD) hybrid pursuit rated utility vehicle from Currie Motors to replace the totaled P-14 in an amount not to exceed $77,392. 2. Action at the discretion of the Village Board. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends acceptance of the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative joint bid results for the purchase of one (1) 2025 Ford Explorer all -wheel drive hybrid pursuit vehicle from Currie Motors to replace the totaled P-14, including the installation of any associated emergency lighting and communications equipment for this (1) vehicle in an amount not to exceed $77,392.
