HomeMy WebLinkAbout6.2 Motion to approve the purchase for replacement of two Stryker power cots and Stryker power load systems not to exceed a cost of $145,593.54 Village of Mount Prospect Fire Department INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: FIRE CHIEF JOHN DOLAN FROM: DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF TOM WANG DATE: DECEMBER 31, 2024 SUBJECT: STRYKER COT AND POWER LOAD REPLACEMENT The Fire Department is seeking Board approval to purchase two Stryker Power Cots and two Stryker Power Load systems. This 2025 CIP item is a split purchase, with two more power cots and power loads to be purchased in 2026. A total of $142,500 is budgeted for each purchase. The Department initially acquired Stryker Power Cots and Power Load systems in 2017, recognizing the benefits of reducing injuries through powered lifting and loading stretchers. These systems eliminate the need for firefighter/paramedics to physically lift stretchers into ambulances. Since their introduction, the stretchers have proven to be highly effective, significantly reducing the physical strain on personnel. Stryker states that the typical lifespan of a Power Cot and Power Load system is seven years. Stretchers are among the most frequently used equipment on ambulances. The proposed purchase will replace one cot/load system from 2017 and another that was repurposed from an Elk Grove Township ambulance. Both units are now over seven years old and no longer covered under warranty. The Department requests that the Board waive the bidding process and approve the purchase of two Stryker Power Cots and two Power Load systems. This purchase includes a seven-year warranty for both the power cots and power load systems. Additionally, the Department will receive a trade-in credit of $16,000 for two existing power cots and power loads. The Department seeks Board approval for the total purchase price, including trade-in credits and warranties, not to exceed $145,593.54. Deputy Chief Tom Wang TW/tw
