Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois 60056 MINUTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Village Hall — 50 S. Emerson Street Thursday, November 7, 2024 8:00 a.m. The meeting of the Economic Development Commission (EDC) of the Village of Mount Prospect was held on Thursday, November 7th in the third floor Executive Conference Room in the Village Hall, 50 South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois. CALL TO ORDER Jim Drew called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. Commissioners Dan Novak, David Roe and Tom Zander were present. Also present was Jason Shallcross, Director of Community and Economic Development. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The minutes of February 22, 2024 meeting were reviewed and approved unanimously. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD No comments. OLD BUSINESS Development Update Mr. Shallcross provided a brief update on various developments throughout the Village. NEW BUSINESS South Mount Prospect TIF Amendment Mr. Shallcross provided an overview of proposed amendments to the South Mount Prospect TIF District. He indicated that the amendments were spurred by recent annexations on the south side of the village, and that doing so would provide additional opportunities for investment in the south side of the village. The commission discussed a variety of projects currently underway on the south side of the village, and opportunities for more investment in the future. Mr. Shallcross asked that the commission further review the proposed amendments and provide any comments that they had on the proposal. Business Award Program Reinstatement Mr. Shallcross provided an overview of the village's Business Awards Program. He reviewed the previous categories that would be reinstated, along with new categories honoring vacant properties that are being reinvested in, and a `Project of the Year' category, honoring a singular, impactful project in the village. Mr. Shallcross asked that the commission review and provide feedback on the categories, and supply any nominations for the categories as they saw fit for future discussion. Downtown Pilot Project Update Mr. Shallcross presented an update on the many downtown pilot projects taking place over the summer: the Triangle Valet Program, Prospect Avenue Al Fresco, and a new lease to be signed with St. Mark Lutheran Church to provide additional public parking. He indicated that, on average, more than 100 vehicles are being valeted, per weekend, in the triangle area. He also stated that the al fresco restaurants indicated that sales increased by 20% for the life of the al fresco program. The commission discussed each of the pilot programs and provided input on where they might expand to in the future. Mr. Shallcross asked that the commission review the programs and provide any comments that they had. OTHER BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 a.m. Respectfully submitted, Jason C.
