Chairman Derek Steinweg called the November 05, 2008 Youth Commission meeting to order at 7:06 p.m. in
the first floor training room of the Police and Fire Headquarters, Mount Prospect, Illinois.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Daniel Milewski, seconded by Adam Kiel, moved to approve the minutes of the October 01, 2008 Youth
Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE

YOUTH COMMISSION SURVEY
Chairman Derek Steinweg discussed the results of the curfew survey recently conducted at area schools by
Youth Commission members. Area youth were asked:
The curfew ordinance applies to all persons under the age of seventeen. The hours of curfew are Sunday through
Thursday 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and Friday and Saturday 11:59 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. How do you feel about the
curfew law?
129 surveys were completed and listed below are the results:
Too lenient 3
Just right 52
Too strict 74
VILLAGE COMMISSION / ORGANIZATION MEETINGS
Chairman Derek Steinweg passed around the sign up sheet for members to choose a Village commission /
organization meeting to attend and report on youth related issues. Members reviewed the dates and signed up for
various meetings. Agendas for the Commission meetings are posted on the Village website.
Youth Commission members did not attend any additional Village meetings in October.

OLD BUSINESS
SEMI-ANNUAL REPORT TO VILLAGE BOARD
Chairman Derek Steinweg discussed the draft of the Youth Commission Annual Report for the Village Board
scheduled for presentation at the December 02, 2008 Village Board meeting. Chairman Steinweg will email a
copy of the draft to Youth Commission members for their review. Members to advise Chairman Steinweg of any
additions or revisions to the report prior to the board meeting. Youth Commission members encouraged to attend
the Village Board meeting for the presentation.

NEW BUSINESS
FALL FESTIVAL & OKTOBERFEST
Chairman Derek Steinweg, Emily Lindfors, Eric Logisz, Elza Malokou, and Merrily Ruetsche assisted the
Downtown Merchants Association with the Fall Festival & Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 25, 2008 from 1:00
p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
LIBRARY DISPLAY CASE LOTTERY
Chairman Derek Steinweg advised the results of the library display case lottery. The Youth Commission is
scheduled to use the display case in the Teen Zone for the month of August.
YOUTH COMMISSION BUDGET
Chairman Derek Steinweg discussed the Youth Commission budget and possible give-away items and clothing
to purchase before the end of the year. Members to review catalogs at the December meeting and decide on
specific items to give-away at various Youth Commission events.

Members discussed topics for the future Youth View tapings.

Nandini Roy, seconded by Merrily Ruetsche, moved to adjourn the meeting.
Motion carried by unanimous approval.
MEETING ADJOURNED
Chairman Derek Steinweg adjourned the meeting at 7:51 p.m.
