HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.4 PROCLAMATION: Mental Health Awareness Month - May 2024Subject Meeting Fiscal Impact (Y/N) Dollar Amount Budget Source Category Type Information Discussion Alternatives Item Cover Page PROCLAMATION: Mental Health Awareness Month - May 2024 May 7, 2024 - REGULAR MEETING OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE BOARD MAYORS REPORT Presentation Staff Recommendation Attachments MH AWARENESS Proclamation Mental Health Awareness Month May 2024 WHEREAS, Mental Health Awareness month has been observed in the United States since 1949; and WHEREAS, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health condition; and WHEREAS, the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) is launching the "Take the Moment" campaign to champion the importance of destigmatizing mental health by normalizing the practice of taking moments to prioritize mental health care without guilt or shame; and WHEREAS, NAMI'S message is one of hope and inclusion — no matter what one may look like, no matter where one is in their journey, no matter what on is or isn't able to do; and WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and citizen share the burden of mental health problems and has a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention; and WHEREAS, assistance and support is available through the Suicide and Crisis lifeline by dialing 988; and WHEREAS, on June 14, 2024, the Mount Prospect Human Services Department will host the 4th Annual Mental Health Matters event that focuses on breaking down stigmas and building up resilience. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2024 as Mental Health Awareness Month in the Village of Mount Prospect to help cultivate awareness for all residents of Mount Prospect.
