Meeting March 19, 2024 - REGULAR MEETING OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE BOARD Fiscal Impact (Y/N) Y Dollar Amount $1,733,500.00 Budget Source Community Investment Program Fund and General Fund Category MAYORS REPORT Type Action Item Information This memorandum transmits an internally generated cost estimate to remodel the former Elk Grove Rural Fire Protection District facility at 1415 East Algonquin Road for use as Mount Prospect Fire Department Station 11. The cost to complete this work is $1,733,500. The estimated date of substantial completion is June 30, 2024. Attached for reference is the proposed floor plan for the revitalized facility (Attachment A). The scope of work will also include reconstruction/resurfacing of the driveway and roadway. Staff proposes to deliver this project utilizing a mix of in-house labor and contract labor. Project management will be provided by Public Works Department and Fire Department staff. In-house labor will be supplied by Public Works Department staff. Attached for reference please find a detailed cost estimate delineated by construction trade divisions (Attachment B). Funding for this project is proposed to be drawn from a $1 million carry-over (from 2023 to 2024) in the Community Investment Fund (CIP) and from a surplus of General Fund interest income. A presentation and discussion on this expenditure was held at the March 12 Committee of the Whole meeting. Discussion Alternatives 1. Pass a resolution authorizing the expenditure of $1,733,500 for the renovation of Fire Station 11. 2. Action at the discretion of the Village Board. Staff Recommendation Staff recommends that the Village Board pass a resolution authorizing the expenditure of $1,733,500 for the renovation of Fire Station 11. Attachments 1. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURE FOR THE RENOVATION OF FIRE STATION 11 AT 1415 EAST ALGONQUIN ROAD WHEREAS; the Village of Mount Prospect's Public Works Department generated an estimate to remodel the former Elk Grove Rural Fire Protection District facility at 1415 East Algonquin Road as Mount Prospect Fire Station 11; and WHEREAS, the estimated cost to complete this work is $1,733,500.00; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect Public Works Department and the Fire Department jointly presented renovation plans for Fire Station 11 during a Committee of the Whole meeting and discussion on March 12, 2024; and WHEREAS, project management will be provided by the Public Works Department and Fire Department staff. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED; by the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois SECTION ONE: The Village of Mount Prospect authorizes the expenditure of $1,733,500.00 for the renovation of Fire Station 11 located at 1415 East Algonquin Road, Mount Prospect, Illinois. SECTION TWO: The funds to complete the renovation project will be drawn from the 2023-2024 Community Investment Fund and from a surplus of General Fund interest income. SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
