1. Womens History Month proclamation 2024
PROCLAMATION
Women's History Month
March 2024
WHEREAS, women of every race, class, and ethnic background have made historic
contributions to the growth and strength of our Nation in countless recorded and unrecorded
ways; and
WHEREAS, through leadership, innovation, and ingenuity, generations of women have made
significant contributions in science, medicine, technology, business, politics, entrepreneurship,
and arts and culture; and
WHEREAS, whether serving in elected positions across America, leading groundbreaking civil
rights movements, serving our country courageously in the military, or programming
revolutionary technologies, generations of women that knew their gender was no obstacle to
what they could accomplish have long stirred new ideas and opened new doors, having a
profound and positive impact on our community, and
WHEREAS, despite these contributions, the role of American women in history has been
consistently overlooked and undervalued, in the literature, teaching and study of American
history; and
WHEREAS, the National Women's History Month's theme for 2024 celebrates "Women Who
Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion"; and
WHEREAS, the theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a
positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives, social
interactions and institutions.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hofert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim March 2024 as Women's History Month and call upon the citizens of Mount Prospect
of observe this month and honor women, both past and present, who have taken the lead to
show the importance of change and to establish firmer safeguards, practices and legislation
reflecting the goals of equity, diversity, and inclusion. I also invite all citizens to visit
w.w..Jnr..,_W.r_men_s_HjstoLyMonth.gov to learn more about the generations of women who have left
enduring imprints on our history.
