A RESOLUTION PLEDGING TO 30IN COOK COUNTY TO UNITE AGAINST HATE
WHIEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect seeks to continue to become more equitable,
welcoming, and connected as part of the Cook County community; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect is dedicated to protecting all residents from hate
crimes and seeking an end to bigotry in all its forms; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect supports efforts towards social justice; and
WHEREAS, since 2019, Human Rights organizations have reported an increase in hate crimes
against our Asian, Black, Muslim, Semitic, LGBTQ and Hispanic communities; and
WHEREAS, the Cook County United Against Hate campaign disrupts intolerance by providing
visual, verbal, and educational avenues to stand up against all forms of bigotry; and
WHEREAS, Cook County United Against Hate is an impactful pledge to welcome all people
regardless of their background or identity, and to support tolerance and justice; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect encourages residents to actively learn from those
with hived different experiences, and to question hateful acts whenever seen or heard, and to
educate themselves on how to safely interrupt hate; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect encourages its residents to take the pledge to unite
against prejudice and to support tolerance and justice.
NOW, T'HIEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, T'HIE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT ADOPTS
THIE COOK COUNTY UNITED AGAINST HATE PLEDGE.
SECTION ONE: The Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby commit to
fighting injustice and intolerance, and hereby joins with its community to welcome all people
regardless of their race, religion, ethnicity, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability,
class, or other backgrounds.
SECTION TWO: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage
and approval in the manner provided by law.
