Re: Free compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs
Dear _
Last spring, the Village of Mount Prospect adopted the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus's Greenest Region
Compact, an environmental initiative created to address the region's impact on its natural resources.
As an incentive to adopting the Compact, the Village received 14,000 free compact fluorescent light
(CFL) bulbs to distribute to the community in any way they see fit. The CFL bulbs are manufactured
by Globe Electric, are Energy Star rated, and use only 13 watts per bulb (60 watt incandescent
equivalent).
Currently, the Village has over 10,000 bulbs and is seeking strategic alternatives to distribute them
throughout the community. As ~ you serve many families within the community and present
an excellent opportunity to distribute these bulbs at various events, including science fairs and other
service related events.
If you have any interest in obtaining free CFL bulbs to distribute or would like to schedule a time with
the Public Works department to pick-up the bulbs, please call me at (847) 870-6629. The bulbs will be
distributed on a first come, first served basis. The maximum amount of bulbs that can be obtained this
year by any school district is 1,000 and park district/library is 500. Notably, each bulb is individually
protected and packaged within a box of 50 total bulbs.
Sincerely,
Michael C. Dallas
