Chairman Busse called the meeting to order at 5:09 p.m.
Roll Call: George Busse, Chairman
Hank Friedrichs III, Commissioner
Michaele Skowron, Commissioner
Also Present: Michael Figolah, Fire Chief (arrived at 5:25 p.m.)
John Dahlberg, Chief of Police
Everette Hill, Jr., Village Attorney
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to accept the
minutes of the June 2, 2008, Open Meeting.
Voice Vote:
Ayes: Busse, Friedrichs, Skowron
Nays: None
Motion Carried
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to accept the
minutes of the June 24, 2008, Open Meeting.

CONTINUATION OF ORIENTATION FOR NEW MEMBERS OF THE BOFPC
Mr. Hill, the Village Attorney, continued the orientation for new members with an overview of Chapter 4 of the
Rules and Regulations of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
FIRE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Chief Figolah gave a brief report on Fire Department staffing.
POLICE DEPARTMENT UPDATE
Sergeants Test
Chief Dahlberg reported the Sergeants Written Test will be held on August 6, 2008. Nineteen officers submitted
applications.
Police Officer Test
Chief Dahlberg reported out of 288 applicants taking the police officer written test, 248 passed. Chief Dahlberg
recommended interviewing the top 19 candidates plus all Certified Police Officers with a passing score. After a
brief discussion, the Board concurred. Dates for the oral interviews were selected. The interviews will take
place on July 29th, 30th and 31st starting at 5:30 p.m. Chief Dahlberg asked the Chairman to approve letters
notifying applicants of their test results.
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to interview the top
19 candidates plus all Certified Police Officer candidates with a passing score.

JULY 14TH TRAINING DISCUSSION
The Board selected a date for the oral interview training session, which will be conducted by Stanard and
Associates, Inc. The training session will be held on July 14th starting at 5:00 p.m. Chief Dahlberg will make the
arrangements.
Due to training and interviews, the Board will not meet in August. The next meeting will be held on September
2, 2008.
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Commissioner Skowron and seconded by Commissioner Friedrichs to go into Closed
Session at 6:37 p.m.

The Board reconvened at 6:40 p.m. with everyone present.
OTHER BUSINESS
Commissioner Friedrichs commented that it was a great orientation.
A motion was made by Commissioner Friedrichs and seconded by Commissioner Skowron to adjourn at 6:41
p.m.
