AN ORDINANCE providing for the submission
to the voters of the Village of Mount
Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, of the
question of issuing $75,000 Fire Fighting
Equipment Bonds at a special election to
be he~.n and for sa~ Village on the

WHEREAS, it is necessary, advisable and for the
best interests of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County,
Illinois, in order to promote, protect and safeguard the
public safety of the inhabitants of said Village that addi-
tional fire fighting equipment be acquired by said Village
in order to provide more adequate protection from fire of
persons and property within the Village, such fire fighting
equipment to consist of, one piece of equipment a combina-
tion aerial ladder and pump truck, such pump to be capable
of pumping water at the rate of 1,000 gallons per minute,
the ladder to consist of a 100 foot steel aerial ladder, to-
gether with all equipment and appurtenances necessary and
incident thereto and including necessary ground ladders and
a 300 gallon booster tank; and a second piece of equipment
to be a 1,000 gallons per minute pumper truck together with
all equipment and appurtenances necessary and incident
thereto; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of
said Village have heretofore estimated the cost of the pur-
chase of such additional fire fighting equipment and do
hereby estimate that it will cost not less than $'75,000; and
WHEREAS, funds are not available for the purpose
of purchasing said additional fire fighting equipment as
hereinabove described and it will therefore be necessary to
borrow money and in evidence thereof issue bonds of said
Village for the purpose of paying the cost thereof and before
bonds can be issued, the question of issuing said bonds must

be submitted to the electors of said Village and be approved
by a majority of the electors voting on said question at an
election called for that purpose,
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President
and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook
County, Illinois, as follows:
Section 1. That it is hereby determined to be in
the interests of the public safety of the inhabitants of the
Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, that addi-
tional fire fighting equipment be purchased by said Village
as hereinabove described in the preamble of this ordinance
and for the purpose of paying the cost thereof, it will be
necessary that this Village borrow money and in evidence
thereof issue the bonds of said Village.
Section 2. That there be borrowed by, for and on
behalf of said Village the sum of $75,000.00 for the purpose
of paying the cost of acquiring additional fire fighting
equipment in and for said Village, as hereinabove described
in the preamble hereof, and that to evidence said loan,
negotiable bonds of said Village be issued, and that said
bonds be designated "Fire Fighting Equipment Bonds,1I be of
the denomination of $1,000 each, be numbered consecutively
from 1 to 75, inclusive, and become due serially $5,000 on
February 1 of each of the years 1961 to 1975, inclusive;
provided, however, that of said bonds, bonds numbered 21 to
75, inclusive, maturing on February 1 of each of the years
1965 to 1975, inclusive, and in the aggregate amount of
$55,000, shall be SUbject to redemption and payment prior
to their maturity, at the option of the Village, at par and
accrued interest to date of redemption, in the inverse order
of their number, on any interest payment date on or after

February 1, 1964, and said bonds to bear interest from date
at the rate of not to exceed four and one-half per cent
(4-1/2%) per annum, payable on August 1, 1960 and semi-
annually thereafter on the first days of February and August
in each year until paid.
Section 3. That the question of issuing said
$75,000 Fire Fighting Equipment Bonds of said Village as
hereinabove described in Section 2 hereof, be submitted to
the legal voters of said Village at a special election which
is her,eby called to be held in and' for said Village on the

6:00 o'clock A. M. and 6:00 o'clock P. M. of said day.
Section 4. That for the purpose of said election
the Village of Mount Prospect shall be divided into two
election precincts, the boundaries of each election precinct
and the name of the polling place designated for each elec-
tion precinct shall be as hereinafter set forth in the form
of the notice to be given of said election as hereinafter
prescribed in Section 5 of this ordinance.
Section 5. That the Village Clerk of said Village
be and is hereby ordered and directed to cause notice of
said election to be given by publishing notice thereof once
in the MOUNT PROSPECT HERALD, the same being a newspaper
published in said Village. The date of such pUblication of
said notice shall be not more than thirty days nor less tnan
fifteen days prior to the date set for said special election
and said notice shall be in substantially the following form:

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that a special elec-
tion will be held in and for the Village of Mount Prospect,

1959, at which time there will be submitte to the
of the said Village the following question:

Shall bonds in the amount of $75,000 be issued
by the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County,
Illinois, for the purpose of paying the cost
of purchasing additional fire fighting equip-
ment in and for said Village, said bonds to be
of the denomination of $1,000 each, to be num-
bered consecutively from 1 to 75, inclusive,
and to become due serially $5,000 on February
1 of each of the years 1961 to 1975, inclusive;
provided, however, that of said bonds, bonds
numbered 21 to 75, inclusive, maturing on
February 1 of each of the years 1965 to 1975,
inclusive, and in the aggregate amount of
$55,000, shall be sUbject to redemption and
payment prior to their maturity, at the option
of the Villa~ at par and accrued interest

That for the purpose of said election said Village

Shall consist of all that part of the Village of
Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, lying North
of the center line of the Northwest Highway.
Polling Place: Village Hall,
112 East Northwest Highway,
Mount Prospect, Illinois

ELECTION PRECINCT NUMBER 2.
Shall consist of all that part of the Village of
Mount Prospect, Cook County, Illinois, lying South
of the center line of the Northwest Highway.
Polling Place: Chicago and North Western Railway
Station, Northwest Highway,
Mount Prospect, Illinois.
The polls at said election will be opened at 6:00
o'clock A. M. in the morning and will be closed at 6:00 o'clock
P. M. on the date of the election. All persons qualified to
vote at regular Village elections are qualified to vote on said
question. Legal voters must vote at the polling place desig-
nated for the election precinct within which they reside.

election for the purpose of submitting the ordinance and the
question to the voters shall be in substantially the follow-

Section 8. That the Village Clerk is hereby
ordered to cause a sample of the ballot to be published once
in the Mount Prospect Herald, the same being a newspaper pub-
lished in said Village, the date of such publication to be
not less than five days prior to the date set for said elec-
tion and to procure and prepare all necessary election
material for holding and conducting said election.
Section 9. That this ordinance shall become effec-
tive immediately upon
