AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AN ORDINANCE
entitled "An Ordinance to Create a Local Organization
for Civil Defense, If Number 696" passed and approved
October 13, 1959
WHEREAS, it is the opl.nJ.on of the corporate authorities of the Village
:of Mount Prospect that it is in the interest of public health, safety' and

'general welfare that the ordinance creating a local organization for civil
defense be amended to broaden the scope of said organization,
NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Ordained by the President and Board of Trustees
.of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook Comty', Illinois:
Section 1. 'I!hat Section 2 of an ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance to

Icreate a local organization for Civil Defense," Number 696, passed and approved
IOctober 13, 1959, shall be amended to and shall hereafter read as follows:

i There is established in this Village a local organization for civil

idefense, to be known as the Village Civil Defense Organization (herein sometime~
I I
Ireferred to as "the Local Civil Defense Organization) to prevent, minimize, I
Irepair, and alleviate injury' or damage resulting from disaster caused by' I
lenemy attack, sabotage, or other hostile action, or from natural disaster, I
I

The Local Civil Defense Organization is created for the purpose of performing I
such civil defense functions as shall be prescribed in the State Civil Defense j
1an and Program, and by' such orders, rules and regulations as may' be promulgate
I
in accordance with tiThe Illinois Civil Defense Act of 1951,"
as amended.'
Y' the Governor, with this Village, and outside its territorial limits if

I required under any' mutual aid agreement or compact entered into under the
rofisions of the Illinois Civil Defense Act of 1951.
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage.
Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
erewi th be and the same are hereby' repealed, reserving however, to the
lllage of Mount Prospect any' rights which have accrued to it~against any' person
irm or corporation under any' ordinances or sections of ordinances which may
e and are h3reby' rep1ealed.
