AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE T!IU1~ICIPAL CODE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
OF 1957 BY ADDING TO CHAprfER 4, ARTICLE II THEREOF
SECTION 4.206 AND SECTION 4.207
VfrIEREAS, it is deemed to be to the best interests of
the Village of Mount Prospect and its residents that there be eK-
tablished an office of Village Prosecutor;
NOW, THEREFOHE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois,
that Chapter .4, Article II of the Municipal Code of Mount Pros-
pect of 1957 be amended by adding thereto the following:
Section 4.206. Creation of Office of Village Prosecu-
tor - Appointment: There is hereby created the office of Village
Prosecutor, an executive office of the Village. The Village Pro-
secutor shall be appointed by the President with the advice and
consent of the Board of Trustees.
Section 4.207. Duties of the Village Prosecutor: It
shall be the duty of the Village Prosecutor to assist the Village
Attorney by attending all proceedings before a justice of the
peace or police magistrate that involve prosecution for violation
of a Village ordinance and to prosecute such cases on behalf of
the Village. He shall advise and assist all Village officers or
employees on questions of law involved in filing complaints, mak-
Ing arrests and preparing for prosecution for ordinance violations.
He shall also represent the Village in all appeals from decisions
rendered by justices of the peace or police magistrates in cases
involving a prosecution for violation of an ordinance.
THIS ORDINANCE shall be in full force and effect upon
its passage, approval and publication according to law.
