AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN ELECTRICAL COMMISSION
AND DEFINING THE ~OWERS ~~ DUTIES FOR THE r~~ffiERS
THEREOF ~ AMENDING CHAPTER 5 OF THE MUNIC IPAL CODE
OF MOill{T PROSPECT
NOW, THEREFURE~ BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board o~ Trustees o~ the Village o~ Mount Prospect, Cook County,
III ino is :
Section 1. That Chapter 5 o~ the Municipal Code o~
Mount Prospect is hereby amended by adding thereto the ~ollowing:
frArticle VIII. Electrical Commission.
"Section 5.801. Creation. An Electrical Commission
~or the Village o~ Mount Prospect is hereby created under the
authority of an Act o~ General Assembly o~ the State o~ Illinois
entitled "Revised Cities and Villages Act,n Illinois Revised
statutes, Chapter 24, Division 37, Sections 11-37-2 and 11-37-3.
"Section 5.802. Members Appointed. The said Electri-
cal Commission shall consist of Five (5) membera as ~ollows: The
Superintendent o~ Electricity or the Chief Electrical Inspector
of the Village shall be a member and ex-officio Chairman of the
Commission; of the other four members, one shall be an electrical
contractor, one a jou~neyman electrician, one a representative of
an inspection bureau maintained by the Fire Underwriters, i~ such
a representative resides in the Village, and i~ no such represen-
tative resides in the Village, then the Chief of the Fire Depart-
ment, and one a representative of an electricity supply company.
If there is no person residing in the Village of Mount Prospect
who is qualified under anyone of these descriptions, some other
person may be appointed to fill the position.
nAIl members of the Electrical Commission shall be ap-
pointed by the Village President with the advice and consent of
the Board o~ Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect.
"The term of all members of the Commission shall be four
(4) years. All vacancies occurring in the case of appointed mem-
bers of such commission shall be filled by appointment ~or the
remainder o~ the unexpired term in the same manner as the origi-
nal appointments.
"All members and officers of said Commission shall serve
without compensation.
"Section 5.803. powers. The said Connnission shall have
the power:
n(a) To recommend to the Board of Trustees safe and
practical standards and speci~ications for the installation, al-
teration and use of electrical equipment designed to meet the
necessities and conditions of the Village of Mount Prospect.
neb) To recommend to the Board of Trustees reasonable
rules and regulations to govern the issuance of permits by the
Electrical Inspection Department of the Village of Mount Prospect.

tt(c) To recommend to the said Board of Trustees rea-
sonable fees to be paid for the inspection by the Inspection
Department of the Village of Mount Prospect of all electrical
equipment installed or altered within the Village.
"(d) To keep i~ormed of the latest developments in
connection with the installation, alteration and use of electri-
cal equipment and to recommend to said Board o~ Trustees from
time to time alterations or amendments in connection with the
standards, speci~ications, rules and regulations and fees then
in force in said Village of Mount Prospect.
nee) To exercise such other powers germane to the
powers granted by this Article as may be conferred by the Board
of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect."
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage and approval according to law.
