May 16, 2023 - REGULAR MEETING OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE BOARD - IQ&we 0.4 -VR; 190,14 Information Item 1 Proclamation Mental Health Awareness Month May 2023 WHEREAS, Mental Health Awareness month has been observed in the United States since 1949; and WHEREAS, millions of Americans face the reality of living with a mental health condition; and WHEREAS, the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI) is launching the "More Than Enough" campaign to uplift and empower all people to feel that they are "more than enough" and are inherently worthy of life, love, and healing; and WHEREAS, NAMI'S message is one of hope and inclusion — no matter what one may look like, no matter where one is in their journey, no matter what on is or isn't able to do; and WHEREAS, each business, school, government agency, healthcare provider, organization and citizen share the burden of mental health problems and has a responsibility to promote mental wellness and support prevention; and WHEREAS, assistance and support is available through the Suicide and Crisis lifeline by dialing 988; and WHEREAS, on May 10 ,2023, the Mount Prospect Human Services Department hosted the 3rd Annual Mental Health Matters event that focuses on breaking down stigmas and building up resilience. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2023 as Mental Health Awareness Month in the Village of Mount Prospect to help cultivate awareness for all residents of Mount Prospect.
