Regular Meeting of the Village Board
Tuesday, May 2, 2023 / 7:00 p.m.
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hoefert called the Regular Meeting of the Village Board to order at 7:04 p.m. in the
Board Room at Village Hall, 50 S. Emerson St.
2. ROLL CALL
Members present upon roll call by the Village Clerk: Mayor Paul Hoefert, Trustee Agostino
Filippone, Trustee Terri Gens, Trustee John Matuszak, Trustee Richard Rogers, Trustee
Colleen Saccotelli and Trustee Michael Zadel
Absent: None
2.1 Posting of Colors by the Mount Prospect Police and Fire Department Honor Guard with the
Pledge of Allegiance led by Trustee Zadel
2.2 Invocation - Trustee Rogers provided the invocation
3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
3.1 Minutes of the regular Meeting of the Village Board - April 18, 2023
Motion by Colleen Saccotelli, second by Terri Gens to approve the meeting minutes of April
18, 2023:
Yea: Agostino Filippone, Terri Gens, John Matuszak, Richard Rogers, Colleen
Saccotelli, Michael Zadel
Nay: None
Absent: None
Final Resolution: Motion Passed
4. MAYOR'S REPORT
4.1 REAPPOINTMENT TO BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
Mayor Hoefert presented the following reappointments:
Board of Fire & Police Commission: Rockne Borke - Term to expire May 2027
Economic Development Commission: Tom Zander - Term to expire May 2027
Finance Commission: Yulia Bjekic - Term to expire May 2027
Motion by Richard Rogers, second by Michael Zadel to ratify the subject reappointments:
Yea: Agostino Filippone, Terri Gens, John Matuszak, Colleen Saccotelli, Richard
Rogers, Michael Zadel
Nay: None
Final Resolution: Motion Passed

4.2 PROCLAMATION: Acknowledging the contributions of Richard F. Rogers to the Village of Mount
Prospect
Mayor Hoefert and the Trustees shared in the reading of the proclamation acknowledging the
contributions of Richard F. Rogers to the Village of Mount Prospect.
The proclamation recognized Trustee Rogers for his many years of dedicated public service.
Mayor Hoefert presented Trustee Rogers with a plaque honoring is thirty-three years of service to
the Village and community along with a framed copy of the proclamation.
Trustee Rogers thanked the Mayor, Trustees, his family and the communtiy for allowing him to
serve as a member of the Village Board. Trustee Rogers added it has been his honor to serve this
community.
S. BOARD REMARKS
Mayor Hoefert, Trustees Zadel, Matuszak, Saccotelli, Filippone and Gens each expressed their
sincere appreciation to Trustee Rogers for his outstanding accomplishments and many years of
service to the community. Each member of the Board shared a personal thought/experience about
working with Trustee Rogers and wished him well.
Mayor Hoefert also expressed deep gratitude to Trustee Zadel for stepping in when asked to fill a
vacant seat on the Board in 2021, two years after his retirement.
6. COMMUNICATIONS AND PETITIONS - CITIZENS TO BE HEARD

7. CONSENT AGENDA
Motion by Michael Zadel, second by John Matuszak to approve the consent agenda:

Nay: None
Resolution: Motion Passed
7.1 List of Bills - April 12, 2023 to April 25, 2023 - $3,205,407.30
S. OLD BUSINESS
Trustee Zadel proudly announced the ribbon cutting for the long-awaited grocery store, Caputo's
Fresh Market, is Wednesday, May 3 at 9:00. a.m. Trustee Zadel stated the vision of a downtown
grocery story has finally been realized.
9. ADJOURN SINE DIE
Trustee Zadel, second by Trustee Matuszak, to adjourn the meeting.

Nay: None
Motion carried. Adjourned Sine Die at 7:35 p.m.
10. ADMINISTER THE OATHS OF OFFICE TO ELECTED OFFICIALS
Village Clerk Karen Agoranos administered of oath of office to the following:
John J. Matuszak - 2 -year unexpired term - term to expire 2025
Colleen E. Saccotelli - Full 4 -year term - term to expire 2027
William A. Grossi - Full 4 -year term - term to expire 2027
Vincent J. Dante - Full 4 -year term - term to expire 2027
11. BOARD REMARKS
Trustees Matuszak, Saccotelli, Grossi and Dante each expressed their gratitude for the
opportunity to serve the community.

12 CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Hoefert called the meeting to order at 7:46 p.m.
Members present upon roll call by the Village Clerk: Mayor Paul Hoefert, Trustee Vincent
Dante, Trustee Agostino Filippone, Trustee Terri Gens, Trustee William Grossi, Trustee John
Matuszak and Trustee Colleen Saccotelli.
Absent: None
13. MAYORS REPORT
13.1 PROCLAMATION: Global Love Day - May 2, 2023
Mayor Hoefert read the proclamation and presented it to Pastor Russ Bechtold who accepted on
behalf of Mount Prospect's faith community.
13.2 PROCLAMATION: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month - May 2023
Mayor Hoefert read the proclamation and presented it to Hazel Oreluk. Dressed in traditional
Filipino attire, Ms. Oreluk accepted the proclamation and thanked the Board for recognizing Asian
Pacific Heritage Month.

16. VILLAGE MANAGER'S REPORT
Village Manager Michael Cassady welcomed the new Board and extended sentiments of gratitude
to the parting trustees.
Mr. Cassady announced Village staff and the Board will engage in Strategic Planning workshops
next week.
17. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
None
18. ADJOURNMENT
With no additional business to conduct, Mayor Hoefert asked for a motion to adjourn. Trustee
Matuszak seconded by Trustee Grossi motioned to adjourn the meeting. By unanimous voice vote,
the May 2, 2023 regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
