In 2019, Parenti & Raffaelli relocated to the Kensington Business Center making way for the Maple Street Lofts redevelopment that created a retail space (15,000 square feet) within the downtown large enough to accommodate a grocer. Angelo Caputo's Fresh Market will operate a neighborhood market in this new retail space bringing their fresh produce, a prepared food bar, coffee bar, imported deli items and more to the downtown and our community. Angelo Caputo's Fresh Market is a local family-owned grocer, operating in the Chicagoland area since 1958. Robertino Presta started working at Angelo Caputo's Market at a young age and is where he met his wife Antonella Caputo Presta. The family currently owns eight Chicagoland locations where along with their five children take a very hands-on approach to business management. Their goal is to continue the incredible legacy created by founders Angelo and Romana Caputo. Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets offers grocery essentials in all departments. Caputo's 1 specialize in fresh cut fruits and veggies, fresh homemade sausage, angus meat from local family cattlemen, fresh fish flown in, hand stretched mozzarella, fresh deli salads, delicious cookies, and pastries many using Romana Caputo's very own recipes. The grocer will also have a chef who creates prepared foods to go along with food stations serving sushi, pizza, soup, sandwiches, and gelato. A European style beverage bar will serve specialized coffees, expressos, teas as well as alcoholic beverages. The Presta's are requesting a "Class P-2" liquor license which provides for the sale of package liquors in conjunction with a full-service grocery store. An Alcoholic Beverage Certification is available to grocery stores that hold a P-2, P-3, and P-4 licenses; the Presta's are planning to add on this certification; which allows for grocers to have a beverage bar where patrons can purchase beer, wine, or cocktails while shopping. The proposed European beverage station hours will comply with the "Class P-2" liquor license sale hours and a Bassett trained barista/bartender will be onsite to service the station. Angelo Caputo's will employ 80-100 full/part-time employees. Store hours of operation will be seven days a week from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. A mid Spring opening is anticipated. Mr. & Mrs. Presta submitted a complete application with required documentation and to a background check in association with the liquor license application. As required by the Liquor Code, all managers and individuals involved with the sale and service of alcohol must complete a certified liquor servers training course. Alternatives 1. Motion to approve the Ordinance to increase the amount of Class P-2 licenses by one. 2. Action at discretion of Village Board.
