ROLL CALL Secretary Cindy Rumore called the roll. f} MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES MAY 07,2008 PAGE TWO APPROVAL OF MINUTES Steven Long, seconded by Derek Steinweg, moved to approve the minutes of the April 02, 2008 Youth Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval. YOUTH COMMISSION ELECTIONS Youth Commission elections for the 2008-2009 year were conducted at the May meeting. Steve Long, seconded by Alyssa Hillman moved to elect Derek Steinweg to the position of Chairman of the Youth Commission. Motion carried by unanimous approval. Steve Long, seconded by Derek Steinweg moved to elect Eric Logisz to the position of Co-Chair of the Youth Commission. Motion carried by unanimous approval. Derek Steinweg, seconded by Steve Long moved to elect Daniel Milewski to the position of Treasurer of the Youth Commission. Motion carried by unanimous approval. Steve Long, seconded by Alyssa Hillman moved to eliminate the Public Relations position of the Youth Commission. Motion carried by unanimous approval. AI A George Clowes made some suggestions for the Youth Commission: . The position of Parliamentarian be added to the Youth Commission and that person would work with an adult advisor. . Invite the Village Clerk to a meeting to discuss Robert's Rules with members. . Adult advisor to work with the co-chair position. . Create a more specific Agenda. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE Angelo Campos, Michael Higginson, Alyssa Hillman, Steve Long YOUTH COMMISSION SURVEY Members discussed the questions to be placed on a survey regarding youth issues to be distributed to the community. Various Village events were proposed to conduct the surveys at; Lion's 4th of July weekend, block parties, Downtown Block Party, Youth View, local junior high schools. Alyssa Hillman to create the survey. YOUTH COMMISSION BUSINESS CARDS Members discussed the possibility of printing business cards for Youth Commission members to have available at events. RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE Michael Artwohl, Adam Kiel, Nicole Logisz, Derek Steinweg Chairwoman Nicole Logisz and Alyssa Hillman spoke to the Mount Prospect Public Library Teen Advisory Board meeting about the Youth Commission on Monday, April 28, 2008. The information that was gathered from the meeting was passed on to newly elected Chairman Derek Steinweg for follow up. ~ MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES May 07, 2008 PAGE THREE Mount Prospect Youth Commission is scheduled to have the use of a library display case for the month of June at the Mount Prospect Public Library. Members discussed the theme of the display and the set-up and take-down schedule. COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE Steve Long, Michael Higginson, Daniel Milewski Chairwoman Nicole Logisz assisted the Downtown Merchants Association with their Spring Fun & Fitness Art Walk on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Chairwoman Nicole Logisz asked for interested Youth Commission members to assist the Mount Prospect Historical Society to move out of Randhurst on Saturday, May 10, 2008. OLD BUSINESS YOUTH VIEW Members discussed various topics for upcoming tapings of Youth View. The next Youth View taping IS scheduled for June 11, 2008. CAPANNARI'S COUPONS Derek Steinweg contacted Officer Roscop regarding the Bicycle Unit handing out the 50 Capannari's ice cream coupons to community youth wearing bicycle helmets. Bicycle Unit to hand out coupons. MOTION TO ADJOURN Daniel Milewski, seconded by Alyssa Hillman, Motion carried by unanimous approval. moved to adjourn the meeting.
