KLEESPIES began his career with the Mount Prospect Historical Society in 1999 as the Executive Director; and WHEREAS, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES, is a valued and innovative leader who has made significant contributions to the Historical Society, the Mount Prospect Public Library, the Village of Mount Prospect and other local organizations; WHEREAS, under the leadership of GAVIN W. KLEESPIES, Mount Prospect Historical Society membership has increased 300%, with nearly one thousand members it is the largest suburban historical society in the area; and WHEREAS, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES, was keystone to the campaign to raise the necessary funds and relocate the 112 year old Central School house to the Mount Prospect Historical Society campus; and WHEREAS, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES wrote several program and educational grants, securing over $40,000 in grant awards for the Mount Prospect Historical Society; and WHEREAS, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES, during his eight year tenure, developed three websites to showcase the Mount Prospect Historical Society and its collections, and initiated several popular community exhibits; Desks on Display, Home on the Front: Veteran's Experience in Mount Prospect, Mount Prospect in the 1950's: Decade of Transition and City of Progress: Mount Prospect in the 1920's; and WHEREAS, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES, penned local history articles for the Mount Prospect Journal and the Mount Prospect Times and authored "Lost Mount Prospect 2006" and co-authored "Images of America: Mount Prospect 2003" and "Mount Prospect; the story of your community"; and WHEREAS, through his passion to share the richness found in the early years of Mount Prospect, GAVIN W. KLEESPIES has worked closely with the Mount Prospect Historical Society Board and its members to restore and preserve the pioneering history and cultural traditions of the Village of Mount Prospect; and WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees along with the entire community thank GAVIN W. KLEESPIES for his years of service with the Mount Prospect Historical Society. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim June 3, 2008 as a day of celebration and gratitude to "GA VIN W. WILKS AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: VILLAGE MANAGER MICHAEL JANONIS DATE: MAY 28, 2008 SUBJECT: VICTORIA IN THE PARK BANQUETS 1700 S. ELMHURST ROAD NEW CLASS "E" BANQUET FACILITY LIQUOR LICENSE On Wednesday May 28, 2008 the Village Manager met with Mr. Mario Ferraro owner and Mr. Jay Patel, Chief Financial Officer for Victoria Group, Inc. d/b/a/ Victoria In The Park Banquets to discuss their request for the creation of a new Class "E" liquor license. The Class "E" designation provides for alcohol service in conjunction with a banquet facility as well as the provision of off-site catering services. According to Mr. Ferraro no off premise catering service will be conducted from the above location. The facility is part of the Lake Center Plaza complex and the existing building once housed a Chicago Title and Trust branch office. The 17,000 square foot facility will have two levels with the first level consisting of a pre-reception activities area and a lower level banquet facility that will seat up to 350 people. The grounds surrounding the facility will be utilized for banquet related events and may from time to time hold events outdoors under the cover of a tent. Victoria Catering Inc. operates a number of banquet and catering facilities located in Highwood, Schiller Park, Rosemont and Norridge, Illinois. The Village Manager discussed at length with Messieurs' Ferraro and Patel the Village's particular sensitivity to the sale of alcohol to minors and over service to clearly intoxicated individuals. The Village Manager also indicated that the applicants were responsible for the actions of all employees and managers. Mr. Janonis covered the Village's Fight Ordinance requirements. Mr. Ferraro informed the Village Manager that all wait staff receives training from a certified liquor servers training course. Mr. Ferraro further stated that he had read and understood the requirements of the Village's liquor code. A completed application along with fees and required documents have been submitted. The owners have submitted to fingerprinting and background checks. If the Village Board considers this application favorably, an Ordinance creating a new Class "E" liquor license should be adopted. WILKS AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: VILLAGE MANAGER DATE: MAY 29,2008 SUBJECT: PROSPECT HEIGHTS PARK DISTRICT BANYA INC. - MANAGEMENT COMAPNY REQUEST NEW CLASS "G" LIQUOR LICENSE This item comes to the Village Board as a house-keeping measure. The Prospect Heights Park District operates the Old Orchard Country Club within the boundaries of the Village of Mount Prospect. Old Orchard consists of a 18 hole golf course, club house with locker facilities, a lounge area and a number of banquet rooms. The park district currently holds a valid Class "S" liquor license. The Class "S" designation provides for the operation of a restaurant in conjunction with a lounge. The lounge and dining/banquet facilities are operated by Banya Inc., a management company. The Village's liquor code requires that the management company hold a Class "G" license in order to lawfully serve alcohol as part of its operations. A recent review of the park districts' file indicates that while Banya Inc. has filed the appropriate applications and renewals with the Village, a Class "G" license has never been physically issued. The Mount Prospect Golf Club is similarly licensed with a Class "R" issued to the Park District and a Class "G" issued to its management company, Open Kitchens Inc.
