Commission Finances
Dorothy announced that Skip Farley had volunteered to take over as Treasurer of the Commission. David
Erb, the Village's Finance Director provided an overview of the Commission's finances. It was explained
that they would be provided a baseline budget and any additional funds needed would have to be made
up through fundraising or special budget requests to the Village Board. Mr. Erb reviewed the Financial
Summary for 2006-7 and a Treasurer's Report for January and February 2008.Mr. Erb suggested, as is
stated in the ordinance creating the Commission that the Commission is to make a presentation to the
Village Board each September which could include planning for the following year, especially in the case
of planned visits. He suggested that the Chair submit a letter to the Board requesting the additional funds
when needed.
Mayor Farley reported that Mayor Franc;:ois Kosciusko Morizet had won the run-off election to retain his
position as Mayor of Sevres.
EveninCl with French Consul General
Felicien reported on the Evening with French Consul General, Jean Baptiste de Boissiere held at the
Library. The Commission members signed a letter of thanks. The program was taped for MPTV Library
Life and will begin airing the week of April 20.
Wheelchairs for Peace
Rachel Toeppen reported that the donation to Wheelchairs for Peace had been received. Rachel
proposed asking for a small donation from attendees at all Sister City events or set aside a percentage of
funds raised. She said that it would be good to make an ongoing commitment to a humanitarian cause.
Mary Ann Sibrbava suggested deciding on a year to year basis, depending on the finances.
Dorothy Kucera said that the Commission was a government Commission and bound by ordinance. Not
all commissions are under the government and are freer to act.
Rachel asked that the matter be revisited at a later date. A press release will go out about the donation
and a copy will be sent to Vino 100.
