IV. MARKETING PLAN - PHASE I: RECOMMENDATIONS AND PHASE II: ACTION
PLAN
In recent years, the Village of Mount Prospect has experienced considerable
redevelopment and reinvestment, and envisions further development to come.
During this exciting time of change, it is essential that the Village, as a vibrant and
thriving community, actively promote all it has to offer. By establishing a marketing
plan at this point in time, the Village will be prepared so once the new developments
do come on line, the brand will be known, and there will be a "buzz" about Mount
Prospect. The marketing campaign will target consumers and businesses, both
existing and potential.
In August 2007, staff proposed a marketing plan to enhance the image of the
Village primarily for use in economic development efforts. Phase I of the Campaign,
the development of a brand strategy has been completed and staff will present
recommendations for the brand.
Phase II is the Marketing Action Plan. Staff recommends implementing the
Marketing Action Plan (see Exhibit 1) to continue in 2008 through to 2010,
increasing in intensity and scope as new development projects are completed
(Randhurst Mall redevelopment and Sub Area #1 project). The Marketing Action
Plan represents a sound, steady approach to getting our community's name and
image out to the public at large, as well as reminding our own businesses and
residents that Mount Prospect is a special place.
Appropriate staff will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
v . PRIVATE PROPERTY DRAINAGE ISSUES
Several properties in Mount Prospect experience recurring back yard flooding after
any significant rain event. Often water will pond in their yards and remain there for
a considerable length of time. The Engineering Staff has assisted these residents
by utilizing staff expertise to provide engineering analysis of the problem, and when
beneficial, prepare a drainage plan to resolve the problem. The Village even offers
to pay for the portion of the improvements constructed within the Village right-of-
way. Unfortunately very few residents follow through with construction of any
improvements because of the cost. Staff will present for consideration a program to
enhance the likelihood of projects moving to construction. Use of the funds
collected from the "Fee in Lieu of Stormwater Detention" to pay for the
improvements could provide the catalyst to alleviate these recurring flooding
conditions.
The attached memorandum will provide the basis for the program review.
Appropriate staff will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
VI. COMMERCIAL SOLID WASTE PROPOSAL RECOMMENDATION
The Public Works Department has received and reviewed proposals for exclusive
commercial solid waste services. Public Works staff will present an overview of the
proposals received and make a recommendation. Topics discussed will include the
proposal recommendation, services provided and replacement of dumpsters.
Appropriate staff will be on hand to answer questions and facilitate discussion.
