5237, by phone or bye-mail, 24 hours prior to the meeting. In an emergency, you
may call the meeting room at the Mount Prospect Police and Fire Headquarters at
847-818-5337 at the time of the meeting.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz called the March 05, 2008 Youth Commission meeting to order at 7: 15 p.m. in the
first floor training room of the Police and Fire Headquarters, Mount Prospect, I1Iinois.
ROLL CALL
Secretary Cindy Rumore called the roll.
APPROV AL OF MINUTES
Steven Long, seconded by Nandini Roy, moved to approve the minutes of the January 09, 2008 Youth
Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval.

NEW YOUTH COMMISSION MEMBERS
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz welcomed newly appointed Youth Commission members, Eric Logisz and Alex
Brewer to the meeting.
PUBLIC RELA nONS COMMITTEE

VILLAGE COMMISSION / ORGANIZA TION MEETINGS
Derek Steinweg attended Coffee with Council January meeting and reported the Chief of Police John Dahlberg
thanked the Youth Commission for their assistance with youth issues.
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz passed around the sign up sheet for members to choose a Village commission /
organization meeting to attend and report on youth related issues. Members reviewed the dates and signed up for
various meetings.
YOUTH RESOURCE CATALOG
Steve Long sent an email to Maura EI Metennani, asking her to include the Youth Resource Catalog and Flyer
on the Village Youth Commission website.
RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE
Michael Artwohl, Adam Kiel, Nicole Logisz, Derek Steinweg
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz attended River Trails Middle School National Junior Honor's Society meeting on
January 30,2008 to discuss Youth Commission recruitment.
AI A David Schein suggested members stop by local block parties this summer and distribute Youth Commission
flyers.
A/A George Clowes advised the Youth Commission recruitment public service announcement was running with
this month's Youth View program.
Suggestions made for recruitment: distribute flyers to middle schools, area church youth groups, media exposure.
COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE
Steve Long, Michael Higginson, Daniel Milewski
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz contacted Mr. Tom Zander of the Downtown Merchants Association for the Youth
Commission to participate/and assist in future community activities. Mr. Zander said they could use assistance
with their Spring Fun & Fitness Art Walk on Saturday, April 26, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. - 1 :00 p.m. Interested
members to advise Chairwoman Nicole Logisz at the April meeting.

OLD BUSINESS
YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT DAY
A/A Richard Lohrstorfer to contact Village Manager's office to get information on Youth in Government Day.
TOWN MEETING
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz advised Mayor Wilks suggested combining Youth in Government Day with a Town
Meeting. Members discussed holding the Town Meeting to discuss youth related issues with youth in the
community. Potential local events, dates, and advertising the event were discussed. Ideas for the events to be
brought to the April meeting for final discussion.
YOUTH VIEW
A/A George Clowes advised the program on Social Security was taped in February. Members discussed topics
for the March taping.
ANIMAL CONTROL ORDINANCE
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz spoke with Mayor Wilks and she requested the Youth Commission continue to look
into this issue in more depth: review the ordinance, interview the complainant. Youth Commission members and
Adult Advisors could not find a definite solution and agreed if there is an ordinance violation, complainant
should report the incident to proper authorities for enforcement.
NEW BUSINESS
SISTER CITIES COMMISSION
Chairwoman Nicole Logisz reported she met with Dorothy Kucera, Chairwoman of Sister Cities Commission,
and stated she received Sister City International Newsletter and saw youth related item, "Reflection in your
Community 20th Annual Young Artist Showcase." Youth Programs were listed as well for interested members.

Motion carried by unanimous approval.

Chairwoman Nicole Logisz adjourned the meeting at 8:30 p.m.
