ORDINANCE NO. 1012
AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT WHICH PROPERTY IS
COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS WEDGEWOOD TERRACE
WHEREAS, a majority of the property owners of record,
owners of record of more than fifty percent of the land in the
territory described and a majority of the electors of said ter-
ritory hereinafter described and commonly known as Wedgewood
Terrace, lying northeasterly of Rand Road, have sought to annex
said area, hereinafter more fully described, to the Village of
Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, said property owners and residents, to accom-
plish said purpose, have filed a petition to annex with the
County Court of Cook County, Case No. 64 CO 1506, in accordance
with the Statutes of the State of Illinois made and provided; and
WHEREAS, Judge Thaddeus V. Adesko, Judge of the County
Court of Cook County, did on January 12, 1965 enter an order, a
certified copy of which is marked Exhibit 1, attached hereto and
made a part of this ordinance by reference as if fully set furth,
which order did find that the petition to annex the hereinafter
described property was signed by a majority of the property owners
of record, owners of record of more than fifty percent of the land
in the territory described, and a majority of the electors of the
territory herein described and that said petition did comply in
all respects with the laws of the State of Illinois, that the ter-
ritory described in said petition and referred to below was in
fact contiguous to the Village of Mount Prospect and did duly cer-
tify the area to be annexed; and
WHEREAS, a copy of said order was duly transmitted to
the Village Clerk of the Village of Mount Prospect in accordance
with the Statutes made and provided; she having received same; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interests of the Vil-
lage of Mount Prospect that the property hereinafter described and
commonly known as being Wedgewood Terrace and lying northeasterly
of Rand Road, Cook County, Illinois, be annexed to the Village of
Mount Prospect.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and
Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount Prospect, Cook County,
Illinois:
Section 1. That land and territory described in the
above mentioned petition and the above mentioned order, to wit:

That portion of the Subdivisions known as Wedgewood
Terrace, being a subdivision of part of the East
1/2 of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 27, Township 42
North, Range 11 East of the Third Principal Meridian,
and Arlington Meadows, being a subdivision of that
part of the West 1/2 of the Southwest 1/4 lying North-

of Mount Prospect, and that said petition was signed by a majority
of the property owners of record, owners of record of more than
fifty percent of land of the territory, and a majority of electors
on the territory therein described, and that the proceedings and
petition filed were in all respects in full compliance with the
Statutes applicable thereto particularly Illinois Revised Statutes,
Chapter 24, Section 7-1-2 through 7-1-5 and which certified the
area to be annexed as above set forth, is hereby annexed to the
Village of Mount Prospect so that hereafter said territory shall
be included within the boundary lines and limits of said Village
of Mount Prospect, as is by law in such case made and provided. ---
Section 2. That the Village Clerk of the Village of
Mount Prospect is hereby directed to record a certified copy of
this ordinance together with an accurate plat of survey of said
territory, to be provided by the Village Engineer, with the Recorder
of Deeds of Cook County, Illinois.

Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage, approval and the expiration ,-
of thirty days from date thereof, in accordance with Section 7-1-5 ~~
of Chapter 2' of the Illinois Revised Statutes (Municipal Code 1961~~~

streets and public walk areas bounded and
described as follows: Commencing at the center
of Section 27 aforesaid, being the Northeast
corner of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 27 afore-
said; thence West along the East and West 1/4
line of said Section 27 to its intersection with
the East line of Lot 5 in Block 1 in Arlington
Meadows aforesaid extended North; thence South
along the aforementioned extended line and the
East line of Lot 5 in Block 1 aforesaid to the
Southeast corner of Lot 5 in Block 1 aforesaid;
thence East along the South line of Lots 1, 2,
3 and 4 extended West across public walk in
Block 1 aforesaid to the Southeast corner of
Lot 1 in Block 1 in Arlington Meadows aforesaid,
said corner also being the Southwest corner of
Lot 1 in Block 4 in Wedgewood Terrace aforesaid;
thence South along the West line of Lots 3, 4,
5, 6 and 7 in Block 4 in Wedgewood Terrace afore-
said to the angle point in Lot 7 aforesaid;
thence Southeasterly along the Southwesterly line
of Lots 7 and 8 in Block 4 in Wedge wood Terrace
aforesaid and thence across public walk in line
with the Southwesterly line of Lots 8 and 9 in
Block 4 aforesaid and continuing along the
Southwesterly line of Lots 9, 10, 11 and 12 in
Block 4 aforesaid extended to the center line of
Golf Lane; thence Southwesterly along the center
line of Golf Lane as shown in Wedgewood Terrace
aforesaid to the center line of Rand Road as
shown in Wedgewood Terrace aforesaid; thence
Southeasterly along the center line of Rand Road
aforesaid to its intersection with the Southeasterly
line of Lots 7 and 8 in Block 5 in Wedge wood Ter-
race aforesaid extended Southwesterly; thence
Northeasterly along the aforesaid extension and the
Southeasterly line of Lots 7 and 8 in Block 5
aforesaid extended Northeasterly to the intersection
with the North and South 1/4 line of Section 27
aforesaid; thence North along the North and South
1/4 line aforesaid to the place of beginning, ex-
cepting from the aforesaid bounded and described
tract of land all of Lots 4, 5, 7 and 8 in Block 1
in Wedgewood Terrace aforesaid, and Lots 1, 3 and 4
in Block 6 in Wedgewood Terrace aforesaid, all in
Cook County, Illinois.
which territory is contiguous to the Village of Mount Prospect, is
not within the limits of any municipality, and which has sought
annexation through petition to the County Court of Cook County,
Case No. 64 CO 1506, and which petition has led to the entry of an
order by Judge Thaddeus V. Adesko on January 12, 1965, which order
did duly find that the territory described in said petition as
amended and described above was in fact contiguous to the Village

plat thereot recorded March 4, 1946, in Cook County as
document number 13132148 being a subdlvlSbn of the east
1/2 ot the southwest 1/4 ot section 21, township 42 north,
range 11 east or the thl~d principle meridian EXCEPT lots
13, 14, 15 and 16 in block 4, and the contiguous lot to the
northwest thereot a180 in block 4 and designated ao a park
on the atoresaid plat, which five excepted lots haye hither-
to been annexed to the Vil1ase ot Mount Prospect; AND lots
l~ 2, 3 and. 4 in block 1 in Arl1naton Meadows being a sub-
division ot that part of the west 1/2 ot the southwest 1/4
lying northeasterly ot the centerline of Rand Road in $ec-
tion 21, townsbip 42 north, range 11 east of the third
p~1nclple meridian; all in the County of Cook, State or
Illinois.

2. That the Petition was signed by a' maJority ot owners of record
of land in the territory and by a majority or the electors residing in
the territory.
3. That the territory to be annexed. is contisuous to th<il Village

4. That hearing on the Petition was duly set on September 14,
1964, as required by law and due notice ot the hearing was published

in the M~unt Prospect Herald on August 2'71 1964, and further that a

5. That certain objections were tiled by and on behalf or the
owners ot lots 4, 5, 7 and 8 1n block 1 and lots 1. 3 and 4 in block
p in the Wedgewood Terrace subdivision in section 27, townshiP 42
north, range 11 east ot the third principle meridian all in the terri-
tory to be annexedJ and on the grounds that the said lots are on the
perimeter ot the territory to be annexed. that the owners thereot wish
to have them excluded trom the territory to be annexed and that suoh
exclusion will not destroy the contiguity of the territory to be
annexed with the Village ot Mount Prospect, it is hereby ordered that
Petition tor annexation be amended and it ls hereby so amended on
its face to exclude the foregOing seven lots with respect to which
objections were tiled asaforesaid pursuant to section 7.1-5 ot Chap-
ter~4 of the Illinois Revised Statutes.
WHEREFORE, the court hereby orders and directs as tollows:
1. That the Petition for &Imexation as mnended oonforms to the
applicable provisions of Artiole 7 of Chapte~ 24 of the Illinois
Revised statutes.
2. Tbat the territory to 'be annexed as amended is legally des-
cribed as follows:
The subdivision known as. ~ledgewood Terraoe according to a
plat tbereotrecorded Mareb4, 1946, in Cook County as
document number 13732148 being a subdivision of the east
1/2 ot the southwe.t 1/4 ot section 21, township 42 north,
range 11 east ot the third principle meridian EXCEPT lots
13, 14, 15 and 16 in block 4, and the contiguous lot to
the northwest thereot also 1n block 4 and designated as a
park on the aforeSaid plat,wblchtive excepted lots have
hitherto been annexid to the Village ot Mount Prospect;
and excepting further lots 4, 5, 7 and 8 in block 1 and
lots I, 3 and 4 in bloak 6 of the foregoing subdivision;
AND lots 1, 2, 3 and 4 in block 1 in Arlington Meadows
being a subdivision of that part ot the west 1/2 of the
southwest 1/4 lying northeasterly ot the centerline of'
Rand Road in section 27. townShip 42 north, range 11 east
of the third prine1ple meridian; all 1n the County of Cook,
State ot Illinois.
3. It is hereby directed that the question of annexing the fore-
going d.escribed territory as amended be submitted to the corpol"ate +)\
