HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/16/2007 VB minutes MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT October 16, 2007 ROLL CALL CALL TO ORDER Mayor Wilks called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Present: Mayor Irvana Wilks Trustee Paul Hoefert Trustee Arlene Juracek PLEDGE INVOCATION MAYOR'S REPORT EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION FIRE PREVENTION POSTER AND ~~AY WINNERS ... ". Absent: Trustee Timothy Corcoran Trustee John Korn Trustee Richard Lohrstorfer Trustee Michael Zadel Mayor Wilks explained that due to a lack of a quorum there would be no official business conducted at this meeting. There were however several presentations that would take place. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Trustee Hoefert led the Pledge of Allegiance. INVOCATION Mayor Wilks gave the Invocation. MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Wilks presented proclamations acknowledgina "Make A Difference Day," October 27'h, "National French Week," November Sh_11lh and "Marine Week," November 4lh _ 10lh. Staff Sergeant Avila, U.S.M.C. accompanied by Mr. Chuck Shields, U.S. Marine Corp League accepted the proclamation and thanked the Village for recognizing Marine Week. The following employees are celebrating quinquennial anniversaries with the Village this year. Mayor Wilks and Fire Chief Mike Figolah recognized those in attendance and presented each with a plaque or certificate. FIRE DEPARTMENT Randy J. Uidl Phillip Buffalo Jeffrey Ricker Scott Skindingsrude Steven Edwards James Ingebrigtsen Eric Mertes YEARS OF SERVICE 20 15 15 10 10 10 10 Fire Chief Mike Figolah, assisted by Mayor Wilks, presented the 2007 Fire Prevention Poster and Essay Contest winners from area schools. Over 900 students representing 13 schools submitted a poster or essay depicting this year's theme of "Practice Your Escape Plan." This year the second annual"Traveling Trophy" was awarded to Forest View School for having the most entrants in the contest. Forest View School Fine Arts Teacher, Ms. Burdi accepted the trophy. CITIZENS TO BE HEARD ADJOURN COMMUNICATIONS AND PETITIONS - CITIZENS TO BE HEARD A resident asked when the discussion on Traffic Zone 15 would take place. Village Manager Michael Janonis stated the first reading of the ordinance regarding Zone 15 would take place at the November 6,2007 Village Board Meeting. Mayor Wilks announced that a styrofoam sculpture of the Lincoln Memorial would be on display at the Village Hall for two weeks beginning on October 17th. The artist is Fran Volz who played a part in the snow sculpture event early this year. Mayor Wilks adjourned the meeting at 7:42 p.m.
