If you are unable to attend a meeting, please contact Chairwoman Nicole Logisz - 847-577-7626 or Secretary Cindy Rumore - 847-818- 5237, by phone or bye-mail, 24 hours prior to the meeting. In an emergency, you may call the meeting room at the Mount Prospect Police and Fire Headquarters at 847-818-5337 at the time of the meeting. ROLL CALL Secretary Cindy Rumore called the roll. MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 05, 2007 PAGE TWO APPROVAL OF MINUTES Angelo Campos, seconded by Derek Steinweg, moved to approve the minutes of the June 13, 2007 Youth Comm ission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval. PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE Angelo Campos, Michael Higginson, Alyssa Hillman, Steve Long YOUTH RESOURCE CATALOG Chairwoman Nicole Logisz reported for Steve Long in his absence that the Youth Resource Catalog is complete and due to a computer break down, is not available for distribution. Copies will be available at the October meeting. VILLAGE COMMISSION / ORGANIZATION MEETINGS Members discussed attending other Village Commission or organization meetings on behalf of the Youth Commission. Members to attend meeting of choice and report at the next monthly Youth Commission meeting on youth related issues. Sign up sheet will be available at the October meeting. RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE Michael Artwohl, Adam Kiel, Nicole Logisz, Derek Steinweg Members discussed further options for recruiting new members. It was decided to film a youth commission video at the next Youth View taping on September 20,2007. BICYCLE HELMET COMMITTEE Derek Steinweg Derek Steinweg contacted Mrs. Dix and the bicycle helmet coupon has been completed. The 50 coupons were given to Officer William Roscop to hand out at the Annual Mount Prospect Family Bike Ride on Saturday, September 08,2007. Youth Commission will follow up with Mrs. Dix for the results of the coupon distribution and determine continuation of the program in the spring. Members discussed advising the Village Board and Indian Grove Elementary School of the completion of the project. COMPUTER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM Steve Long, Michael Higginson, Daniel Milewski Chairwoman Nicole Logisz reported for Steve Long in his absence of meeting Mr. George Bush from Fed Ex Kinko's at the downtown block party and his interest in participating in the Computer Distribution Program. Further discussion on the program at the next meeting after contacting Nancy Morgan, Human Services, to inquire of senior interest in such a program. MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 05, 2007 PAGE THREE OLD BUSINESS SISTER CITIES COMMISSION Chairwoman Nicole Logisz and Adam Kiel, representing the Youth Commission, assisted the Sister Cities Youth Commission with a French Festival at the library on July] 2,2007. MIDSUMMER DOWNTOWN BLOCK PARTY Chairwoman Nicole Logisz reported for Steve Long in his absence that he participated in the Midsummer Downtown Block Party on Saturday, July 28, 2007 for the Youth Commission. Steve passed out the Youth Commission flyer and obtained two leads on prospective new members. Tom Henderson, State Farm Insurance, approached the Youth Commission table at the block party, and advised he would like to talk to the Youth Commission on teen driving and drunk driving. Members to contact Mr. Henderson and set a date for him to attend a meeting, and possibly a Youth View Program in October. NEW BUSINESS YOUTH VIEW Members to tape Youth View Program on September 20, 2007 for their participation in the Sister Cities Commission French Festival held at the Mount Prospect Library on July ]2,2007. MOTION TO ADJOURN Angelo Campos, seconded by Motion carried by unanimous approval. Adam Kiel, moved to adjourn the meeting. MEETING ADJOURNED Chairwoman Nicole Logisz adjourned the meeting at 8:05 p.m. /cjr
