September, • September 7, 2021 - REGULAR MEETING OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT VILLAGE BOARD - IQ&we 0.4 -VR; 190,14 Information Item ATTACHMENTS: Emergency Preparedness Proclamation 2021.pdf 1 PROCLAMATION "NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH" September 2021 WHEREAS, National Preparedness Month, occurring annually in September since 9/11, creates an ideal opportunity for every resident of Mount Prospect, Illinois, to join citizens across the United States in preparing their homes, businesses, and communities for any type of emergency, including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks; and WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the 2021 National Preparedness Month theme of "Prepare to Protect"; and WHEREAS, planning now, before a disaster, is the best way to improve community recovery from disasters; and WHEREAS, when individuals take responsibility for preparing their families and their communities, the chance of survival and return to normalcy following a disaster is greatly increased; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect employs an Emergency Alert System as well as Village Information Centers (Green Boxes) to provide residents and businesses with the most up to date information; and WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect volunteer group, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) supports emergency response efforts, distributes public education materials and host educational events in order to train citizens to be prepared in the event of a disaster. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby proclaim September 2021 as "NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH" and on behalf of the Village of Mount Prospect, I encourage all business and residents of Mount Prospect to develop their own emergency preparedness plan and work together toward creating a stronger, more resilient community.
