The Community Relations Commission (CRC) of the Village of Mount Prospect met Thursday, June 14,
2007, at Mount Prospect Village Hall located at 50 South Emerson Street, Mount Prospect, Illinois
I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairman Parikh called the meeting to order at 7:11 p.m.
II. ROLL CALL

Commissioner Muench
Commissioner Hernandez
Absent:
Chairman Tolbert
Commissioner Fuller
Also in Attendance:
Michael Semkiu, Deputy Chief of Police
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
A motion was made by Commissioner Hernandez and seconded by Commissioner Muench to approve
the minutes of the May 10, 2007, meeting. The minutes were unanimously approved by a voice vote.
IV. OLD BUSINESS
Suburban Mosaic Book Program
Vice Chairman Parikh advised that the book titles for the Suburban Mosaic Program were approved for
fall 2007. Deputy Chief Semkiu will check the website and provide the Commission with copies of the
reading list.
"Make a Difference Day" Update
The sign for the "Musical Instrument Donation Drop Off Point" is now available. Mrs. Hernandez will give
the sign to Secretary Carmen Vasquez at John Jay School.
Forum on Race & Ethnic Diversity
Ms. Muench briefly reported on the various fairs and events being held in other communities. She is
scheduled to meet with someone involved in organizing one of these events. There was a lengthy
discussion on holding a cultural fair in Mount Prospect. The Commission will contact the Mayor's Office
to discuss the Village's support of such an event.
Mission of the Community Relations Commission
The Commission tabled this topic for a future date.
Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The schedule for the Community Development Block Grant is set per the minutes of the May 10, 2007,
meeting.
4th of July Parade
The Chairman will be riding in the parade representing the Commission.

V. NEW BUSINESS
Meeting Schedule
The July 1 ih meeting is canceled. There was a brief discussion on scheduling the commission meetings
for every other month. This topic was tabled for the next meeting.
VI. CORRESPONDENCE
No Correspondence.
The Commission thanked Ms. Hernandez for her work and wished her well.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned after a motion was made by Commissioner Muench and seconded by
Commissioner Hernandez. The motion was approved by a unanimous vote.
