August 7, 2021 Minutes
Farley Community Room,
Village of Mount Prospect
Call to Order 9:11 am
Members in Attendance Brenda Sawyer, Maura Drew, Christina Greco, Brian Lambel,
Haley Schecter, Tarina Wimmer and Jill Friedrichs
Absent Chris Frederick and Fred Steinmiller
Citizens to be Heard Louis Goodman was in attendance, was told it was CWC Saturday. He asked, we
answered: Why is the Shining Star Village Banquet was held at Cotillion Banquets.
SEC was unsure when my, Jill Friedrichs, last meeting will be and held a "going away, thank you for
what you do" party.
Secretary Report Motion to accept the Minutes of June 5, 2021 made by Christina Greco,
seconded by Brian Lambel. No discussion. Motion approved unanimously.
Treasurer Report The working account was distributed to members. It is missing parts of the 4th of
July Parade. Motion to accept as presented the Treasurer's Report made by Jill Friedrichs,
seconded by Tarina Wimmer. Discussion held. Motion approved unanimously.
4th of July Parade
-Thanks to all that participated especially Teresa VanOpdorp who is no longer a member but generously
volunteered her time. And to Chris Frederick for stepping up to continue putting together fiiture parades
and doing such an amazing job on announcing.
-2019 there were 65 units, this year there were 56. Most responses were because of Covid. Two of the
biggest reasons were because of no practice or not able to get participants.
-Musical/Entertainment units and their cost:

-9 established groups did not participate. Mount Prospect State Bank is in process of being bought out
by Busey Bank. Rheinischer Verein Fanfare has just started practicing because of Covid. Proviso Band
is behind schedule with band camp because of Covid. Finally, Central Continental Bakery has not
participated in the past 2-3 years.
-Big Waters Federation—sent them 2 emails: 1. throwing superballs from the raised bucket 2. guy in
bucket almost got clotheslined by wire at Central and Prospect Av.
Bike Ride
-Saturday, August 21st for the bike ride. Final date to cancel is August 7th
-Sunglasses — order 200
-Use Lions Shelter (behind Art Studio) easy access to Lions Club lock-up
-Have received up to $500 fiinding from Mount Prospect Lions Club, main sponsor
-Granola bars and bananas
-Lions will supply water, troff and ice— Fred will pick-up, put together
-Greg Sill, MPPD and Jim Miller, MPFD have been contacted and will be participating
-Greg Sill will be running a bike safety course in conjunction with GSA (Girl Scouts of America) for a
badge
-Raffle tickets, Tarina will make
-Chalk
-Raffle Baskets, Tarina and Christina will put together raffle baskets
-Who will be donating a bicycle?
-3 tables and 8 chairs will be needed
-Coffee and donuts for set-up, Brenda will provide
-26 registered to date
-Signs: new signs are needed, Brian will contact potential providers
-Timetable for the day: 8:00 be there; 8:15 to 8:30 set-up; 9:00 registration; 9:10 program

Outline of event timeline for each committee is due at next SEC meeting.
Next Meeting October 2, 2021
Secretary/Recorder Since I (Jill Friedrichs) will be leaving SEC I am recommending Brian Lambel
take over the duties of secretary/recorder. Motion to appoint Brian Lambel Secretary/Recorder of
the Special Events Commission made by Jill Friedrichs, seconded by Tarina Wimmer. Discussion
held. Motion approved unanimously.
Adjourn 10:18 am Motion to adjourn made by Maura Drew, seconded by Brian Lambel. No
discussion. Motion approved unanimously
