COI41~UN~CATION~ ~ PETITION~, CITI~EN~ TO BE HEARD
CLEAR SIDEWALKS Richard Bachhuber, 625 S. Edward, stated that many
residents do not clear the public sidewalks in
front of their homes from snow and ice, resulting
in a dangerous situation for people who walk. Mr.
Bachhuber asked if there was a law requiring
residents to clear their sidewalks.
Village Manager Janonis stated that while residents
are encouraged to clear their sidewalks, there is
no law with that requirement, noting that
enforcement would be almost impossible.
Mr. Bachhuber also stated that other communities
clear the public sidewalks and asked if Mount
Prospect could do the same. Mr. Janonis responded
that the cost would be prohibitive for Mount
Prospect to assume the responsibility of clearing
all the public sidewalks in the Village.
Richard Nendricks, 1537 E. Emmerson Lane, brought
up the subject of the boat trailer parked next to
his neighbor's garage, stating that he would like a
written response to his complaint. Mr. Janonis
stated that he and Mr. Hendricks had talked on more
than one occasion and informed Mr. Hendricks during
those conversations that he concurs with the
interpretation of staff that the trailer does not
violate local regulations.
