PROCLAMATION
"NATIONAL POLICE WEEK"
May 9 - 15, 2021
WHEREAS, there are more than 900,000 sworn law enforcement officers serving in
communities across the United States, including 82 members of the Mount Prospect
Police Department; and
WHEREAS, honorably led by Police Chief John Koziol, the Mount Prospect Police
Department plays an important role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the
citizens of our community; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Police Department is committed to fostering positive
relationships with the community through engagement and service driven initiatives
including community Police Beat meetings, Citizens Police Academy, Teen Police
Academy, Shopping with the Cops, Kickin' it with the Cops, Five -0-5k and National
Night Out; and
WHEREAS it is important that all citizens know and understand the duties,
responsibilities, and sacrifices of their police department and that members of the
Mount Prospect Police Department recognize their duty to serve the people by
safeguarding life and property by protecting us from violence and disorder and
protecting the innocent against deception and the weak against oppression or
intimidation; and
WHEREAS, It shall be known that the members of the Mount Prospect Police
Department are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles,
grandparents of many and strive every day to make Mount Prospect a better place to
live, work and raise a family; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Police Department continually strives to improve
and expand the recruitment process to reach candidates of all racial, cultural,
economic and social groups to build and develop a diverse staff to meet the needs of
our culturally- rich community.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul Wm. Hoefert, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 9 - 15, 2021 as
"NATIONAL POLICE WEEK"
in the Village of Mount Prospect and publicly salute the service of law enforcement
officers in our community and in communities across the nation. And, I call upon all
individuals to recognize the dedicated men and women of the Village of Mount
Prospect Police Department for their efforts to maintain our peaceful community.
