WHEREAS, in 1872 -7. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that
a special day be set aside for the planting of trees; and
WHEREAS, this holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the plantin9 of more
than a million trees in Nebraska; and
WHEREAS, trees can cut heating and cooling costs, clean the air, provide habitat for
wildlife, beautify our community, slow stormwater runoff and produce life-giving oxygen;

WHEREAS, trees are a renewable resource giving us paper, food, wood for our homes and
fuel for our fires; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect has a long history of planting and caring for our
community"s trees; and

hereby proclaim Friday, April 30, 2021 as

in the Village of Mount Prospect and I urge all citizens to observe Arbor Day by planting,
preserving and maintaining trees throughout the year. A ceremonial planting will be held
at Frost Elementary School, 1805 As en Drive, on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 9:30 am.
