Andy and Kimberly Skic, N. Owen Street, had no issues to bring to up they wanted to thank
Trustee Skowron for her years of service to the Village as Trustee.
Carol Tortorello, S. Elmhurst Avenue, asked how long vacant properties can sit unattended
before the Village can get involved and require the owner to do something with the property.
The only requirement from the Village is that the properties must be registered if vacant and
must be maintained per Village Code. Two properties were mentioned and both are registered
and being maintained per Code. The property at 201 E. Kensington (abandoned farm house) is
waiting for a demo permit and asbestos abatement approval.
Peggy O'Connor, Jane Chiarmonte, and James Grady, E. Northwest Highway, have been
having issues with Norway Cycle which is the tenant below Mr. Grady. Mr. Grady claims the
bike shop is operating their business after hours, smoking in the building, and is creating a
nuisance for the other tenants of the building. Mr. Grady has written a letter to Mr. Cooney
Director of Community Development and asked for assistance with these issues. The Village is
working with Norway Cycle and Norwood Builders to resolve the issues. Mr. Strahl will follow up
with staff and get a response back to Mr. Grady as soon as possible. Mr. Strahl advised Mr.
Grady to contact the Police next time he has any issues with the business.
Jean Skrzynski, N. Elmhurst Avenue, was concerned about the fence at 21 N. Ridge Avenue,
creating a site obstruction for drivers approaching the intersection at Ridge Avenue and Henry
Street. The fence is legal per Village Code and therefore, nothing can be done.
Louis Bowers, N. Boxwood Drive, is concerned about residents leaving their trash and
recycling containers in front of their buildings in the 900-928 buildings on Boxwood Drive.
Village staff will follow up with these addresses and remind them that the Village Code does not
allow this.

Trustee Skowron mentioned that containers are being left in the middle of the street. Mr. Strahl
will follow up with Arc Disposal to ensure the drivers aren't leaving them in the road way.
David Shein, S. Na Wa Ta Avenue, had no issues to bring forward but did hand out Four
O'Clock Flower seeds to those present.
As there was no further business to address, the meeting was adjourned at 10:45 A.M.
Respectfully Submitted,
John Malcolm
Deputy Fire Chief
