A RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF
MICHAELE Jv. SKOWRON
TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has been a resident of the Village of Mount Prospect for the
past 37 years; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has been an active, caring and giving friend, neighbor, parent
and citizen throughout her many years in the Village; and
WHEREAS, her civic involvement has included membership on many community-based organizations
including the Mount Prospect Friends of the Library, Mount Prospect Historical Society, Mount Prospect
Arts Council Steering Committee, Fine Arts Commission of Mount Prospect, Cable Commission of Mount
Prospect, Mount Prospect Bicentennial Committee and the Mount Prospect 75'" Anniversary Committee;
and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has also served to strengthen her community educational
system as an elected official of the School District 57 Board of Education from 1977 to 1989 including
service as President of the School Board from 1979 to 1989; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON additionally showed her dedication to the youth of the
community through her service as a member ofthe Harper College Early Childhood Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has also been intimately involved in the thoughtful
development of Mount Prospect through her service on the 1980 Mount Prospect Citizen Review
Committee of the Comprehensive Plan and as a member of the Mount Prospect Zoning Board of Appeals
from 1990 to 1993 and from 1997 to 1999, serving as chair from 1998 to 1999; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has also served to strengthen her community educational
system as an elected official of the School District 57 Board of Education from 1977 to 1989 including
service as President of the School Board from 1979 to 1989; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON first served the Village of Mount Prospect as a Trustee from
1993 to 1996 and was forced to resign due to an archaic state statute; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON returned to serve on the Village Board once that issue was
resolved, successfully running for the Office of Village Trustee in 1999 and being reelected to the office in
2003; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has always exhibited the highest degree of fairness,
compassion and reasoned thought in all of her deliberations regarding Village matters thereby providing a
high degree of leadership and thoughtful direction to her fellow Board members; and
WHEREAS, MICHAELE W. SKOWRON has always had as one of her basic tenants serving the best
interests of the entire community;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the President and Board of Trustees along with the community as a whole thank
you for your tireless and unselfish devotion to public service and the betterment of Mount Prospect and
wish you the best in your future endeavors.
SECTION TWO: That an official copy of this Resolution be suitably prepared and presented to
MICHAELE W. SKOWRON as a perpetual memento.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and
approval in the manner provided by law.

PROCLAMATION
"NATIONAL POLICE WEEK"
May 13 -19,2007
WHEREAS, the Congress and President of the United States have designated May
15 as Peace Officer Memorial Day, and the week in which May 15 falls as National
Police Week; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Police Department of the Village of Mount Prospect
play an essential role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the Village of
Mount Prospect; and
WHEREAS, it is important that all individuals know and understand the duties,
responsibilities, hazards and sacrifices of their Police Department, and that members
of our Police Department recognize their duty to serve the people by safeguarding
life and property, by protecting them against violence, disorder and by protecting the
innocent against deception and the weak against oppression; and
WHEREAS, the men and women of the Village of Mount Prospect Police
Department unceasingly provide a vital public service; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Mount Prospect recognizes the men and women of our
nation's law enforcement agencies who, at great risk to their personal safety, serve
as guardians of peace.
NOW, THEREFORE, 1, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 13 - 19, 2007 as
"NATIONAL POLICE WEEK"
in the Village of Mount Prospect and I call upon all individuals to recognize the
dedicated men and women of the Village of Mount Prospect Police Department for
their efforts to maintain our peaceful community and to also remember the fallen or
disabled members of law enforcement agencies throughout our country.

PROCLAMATION
"NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK"
May 20-26, 2007
WHEREAS, the services provided by the Public Works Department in our
community are an integral part of our citizens' everyday lives; and
WHEREAS, the support of an understanding and informed community is vital to the
efficient operation of a public works system and its many programs relating to water,
sewers, streets and highways, public buildings, public grounds, solid waste
collection, recycling, trees, and snow removal; and
WHEREAS, the quality and effectiveness of these facilities, as well as their planning,
design and construction are dependent upon the efforts and skills of public works
employees; and
WHEREAS, the efficiency of the qualified and dedicated personnel who staff public
works departments is materially influenced by the people's attitude and
understanding of the importance of the work they perform; and
WHEREAS, the Mount Prospect Public Works Department will have an Open House
on Saturday, May 19, 2007, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., to
acquaint the residents of Mount Prospect with the many services provided by the
Public Works Department,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect,
do hereby proclaim the week of May 20-26, 2007 as
"NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK"
in the Village of Mount Prospect and I call upon all citizens and civic organizations
to acquaint themselves with the various services provided by the Mount Prospect
Public Works Department to assure the health, safety and comfort of our residents.

PROCLAMATION
ACKNOWLEDGING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF
LAURA LUTERI
TO THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT
WHEREAS, LAURA LUTERI has been a volunteer, innovative leader, caring and giving friend,
parent and tutor through her many years in the Village; and
WHEREAS, LAURA LUTERI began her "volunteer career" with the Mount Prospect Public Library
in 1979 with the children's "story time " program, and soon became a valued member of the library
community; and
WHEREAS, LA URA L UTERI has served as a Trustee of the Mount Prospect Library from 1997 to
2007, her support and tireless efforts in long range and financial planning, referendum campaigns,
creation of the Library Foundation were vital to the recent expansion and renovation of the state of
the art Mount Prospect Public Library; and
WHEREAS, LAURA LUTERI has made significant contributions to the Library and worked closely
with other board members and library staff on local library services and issues, her dedication to
library services and education have been beneficial to eager young readers, students, library patrons
and our community; and
WHEREAS, LAURA LUTERI established the "After Hours for Elected Officials" group, to unite
school, park, library, village and township officials seeking to coordinate community programs and
has been active with the "Friends of the Library" coordinating book sales and hosting book
discussions; and
WHEREAS, LAURA LUTERI served on the Village's Special Events Commission from 1993 - 2001,
helping to establish a number of popular community events for the enjoyment and education of
residents, she founded the ever popular "Do It Yourself Sousa ", she is an admired member of the Sew
Bee It Quilters of the Mount Prospect Historical Society and a valued friend of the Mount Prospect
Garden Club; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees along with the entire community thank
LA URA L UTERI for her commitment to public service and the betterment of Mount Prospect.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Irvana K. Wilks, Mayor of the Village of Mount Prospect, do hereby
proclaim May 15, 2007 as a day of celebration and gratitude to
"LAURA LUTERI"
and recognize her for the many contributions she has made to the Mount Prospect Public Library
and our community.
