ROLL CALL Secretary Cindy Rumore called the roll. rr;; MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES APRIL 04, 2007 PAGE TWO APPROVAL OF MINUTES Nicole Logisz, seconded by Steve Long, moved to approve the minutes of the March 04, 2007 Youth Commission meeting. Motion carried by unanimous approval. PUBLIC RELA nONS COMMITTEE Paul Berauer, Brent Busse, Alyssa Hillman Chairwoman Sarah Corcoran, Nicole Logisz, and Steve Long attended a Coffee with Council meeting and talked with Mayor Wilks regarding her assistance with recruitment for the Youth Commission. All members encouraged to continue to attend Village meetings of their choice and advise the Commission of youth related issues to discuss. YOUTH SERVICES AND PROGRAMS COMMITTEE Steve Long, Angelo Campos, Michael Higginson, Andrew Steinweg YOUTH RESOURCE CATALOG Steve Long continues to update the Youth Resource Catalog. The Committee is checking phone numbers and contacts, determining whether the organizations listed are active or not, and will advise when it is completed. RECRUITMENT COMMITTEE Sarah Corcoran, Michael Artwohl, Timothy Artwohl, Nicole Logisz Members discussed the Youth Commission Ordinance and questioned the number of members allowed on the Youth Commission. Chairwoman Sarah Corcoran will contact Mayor Wilks for clarification of number of members on the Commission. Alyssa Hillman brought up the idea of approaching the sponsors of the National Honor Society at River Trails Middle School for recruiting members for the Youth Commission. Sarah Corcoran to attend an event at Lincoln Junior High and will discuss joining the Youth Commission with students and invite them to attend a meeting. Members discussed creating a Youth Commission flyer to distribute to students interested in joining the Youth Commission. BICYCLE HELMET COMMITTEE Andrew Steinweg, Derek Steinweg, Brent Busse, Paul Berauer Brent Busse contacted Mrs. Dix to discuss Capannari's participation in the Bicycle Helmet Program and is waiting for her to call back. Brent and Paul Berauer to advise of status of coupon at May meeting. rr;; MOUNT PROSPECT YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES APRIL 04, 2007 PAGE THREE OLD BUSINESS YOUTH COMMISSION REAPPOINTMENTS Reappointment forms are due to be turned in at the May meeting. NEW BUSINESS YOUTH COMMISSION SUMMER MEETINGS Members discussed changing the June and July Youth Commission meetings. The June 6th meeting has been changed to June 13 due to final exams and the July 4th meeting has been cancelled due to the holiday and vacation schedules. YOUTH COMMISSION ELECTIONS Youth Commission elections for the 2007-2008 year will be held at the June meeting. COMPUTER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM Youth Commission members discussed the possibility of rehabbing donated computers and distribute them to interested seniors. Members discussed the process of obtaining the computers, rehabbing the computers, distribution process, and the pros and cons of such a program. Steve Long, Michael Higginson, and Daniel Milewski to form a Committee to research the availability of computers and interest for a Computer Distribution Program. The Committee will report their findings at the May meeting. MOTION TO ADJOURN Steve Long, seconded by Paul Motion carried by unanimous approval. Berauer, moved to adjourn the meeting. MEETING ADJOURNED Chairwoman Sarah Corcoran adjourned the meeting at 8:26 p.m. Icjr
