ORDINANCE NO. 1187
AN ORDINANCE M1L:NDING SECTION 2.1 OF CHAPTER I
OF THE MOUNT PROSPECT BUILDING CODE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: Section 2.1 of Chapter I of the Mount Prospect
Building Code, as amended, is hereby further amended in its entirety so
that said Section 2.1 of said Chapter I shall hereafter be and read as
follows:
Section 2.1 (a)
The 1960 Edition and supplements thereto of
the Basic Building Code, recommcnded;by the
Buildinp Official Conference of Americo, and
subsequent editions and supplements thereto,
is hereby adopted as the rer,ulations fovern-
inE the ccnstruction of buildinf and other
structures in the Village.
(b) Table 6 of the 1960 Edition of the Basic
Building Code is amended and revised in
part as follows:

Note (c) of Table 6 and Sectiop 309.0 amended to permit
unlimited areas for types of construction usinp noncombustible
materials and havinp a horizontal separation of at least
80 feet on all sides of buildines.
(c) Section 916.0 of the 1960 Edition of the
Basic Buildinr. Code is amended by deletino
the following words in the first parapraph,
"more than three (3) stories or forty (40)
feet in heir.ht."
(d) Section 908.3 and 908.4 of the 1960 Edition
of the Basic Buildinp Code is amended by
addin~ to each Section thereto the followinp
sentence: "An apPIJoved Class A or 3-hour
fire door shall be required on each side
of every openinp, in a fire wall."
(e) Section 868.0 of the 1960 Edition of the
Basic Building Code is amended by deletinp
the word "solid" and further bv the addition
of paragraphs (a) and (b) to be and read
as follows:
868.0 (a) The thickness of bearing w211s
of reinforced concrete shall be not less than
6 inches for the uppermost 15 feet of their
height and sh211 increase 1 inch for eech
successive 25 feet or fraction thereof measured
downward from the top of the wall. In
dwellinps two stories or less in heipht, the
walls may be 6 inches throughout. In no case
shall the thickness be less than 1/25 of the
unsupported heirht or width, whichever is
shorter.
868.0 (b) Panel walls shall be not less
than 5 inches in thickness and in no case
less than 1/30 tne unsupported height or
width, whichever is the shorter.
(f) Section 907.0 and 907.4 of the 1960 Edition
of the Basic Buildinp Code is herein d€leted
and said subject !"latter, "Fire Halls",
shall be governed by Sections 800.1 to
800.6 of the National Buildinp Code.
(g) Table 5, Item 3 of the 1960 Edition of the
Basic Buildine Code is amended by insertinr.

shall be constructed as specified in
Section 907.0."
(h) Article 10 and Article 11 of the 1960 Edition
of the Basic BuildinE Code is herein deleted

shall be eoverned by the requirements set
forth by the National Board of Fire Under-
writers under the headinf, "Installation of
HE:;at Producinf' P.ppliances, Heating, Venti-
latinr, Air Conditioning, Blower 2nd
Exhaust Syster.1s."
(i) Section 303.0 of the 1960 Edition of
the Basic Buildinp Cod~ is awended by
insertinp therein the following sentence:

"Noncombustible TypE: 2C construction
within Fire District No.1 is prohibited."
(j) Copies of such Code shall be kept on file
with the Villaee Clerk and the DirEctor
of Buildings and Zoninp.
(k) The term "buildinr official" as used in the
said Code shall mean the "Director of
Buildinr,s and Zoninr".
(1) Any references in said Code to the
"municipality" shall mean the Villare of
Mount Prospect.
(m) In the event that any ~f the provisions
of said Code are in conflict with the
provisions of the Buildinp Code or Zoninp
Code of the Villape of Mount Pros~ect, the
later shall prevail and the conflicting
provisions of the adopted code shall be
of no effect.
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approve.l and publication in the manner provided
by law.
