ORDINANCE NO. 2027
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT
PROSPECT PERTAINING TO THE B-3 DISTRICT USES AND ADDING A NEW
BUSINESS DISTRICT "B-4"
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect did
hold a public hearing on May 10, 1967 at the hour of 8:00 P.M. at the Village
Hall of the Village of Mount Prospect located at 112 East Northwest Highway,
Mount Prospect, Illinois, on Case No. 67-7P, a proposed ordinance amending
the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Mount Prospect pertaining to the
B-3 District Uses and the creating of a new Business District B-4; and
WHEREAS, said public hearing was held pursuant to proper legal
notice; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Mount Prospect did
hear testimony from all interested parties with respect to Case No. 67-7P; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission by a vote of 9-0 recommended approval
of the proposed ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the Judiciary Committee of the Board of Trustees did review
the proposed ordinance and recommendations of the Plan Commission of the
Village of Mount Prospect with respect to Case No. 67-7P and concurred in
the Plan Commission's recommendation; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mount
Prospect believe that the best interests of the residents of the Village of
Mount Prospect would be served by the adoption of the proposed ordinance
under Case No. 67-7P;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That an Ordinance entitled, "An Ordinance Classifying,
Regulating and Restricting the Location of Trades and Industries and the
Location of Buildings Designed for Specified Uses; Regulating and Limiting
the Height and Bulk of Buildings Hereafter Erected or Altered; Regulating and
Limiting the Intensity of the Use of the Lot Areas and Regulating and
Determining the Area of Yards, Courts and Other Open Spaces Within and
Surrounding Such Buildings; Establishing the Boundaries of Districts for the
Said Purposes; and Prescribing Penalties for the Violation of Its Provisions"
passed and approved December 4, 1923, and amendments thereto (and known as
Ordinance No. 52) as amended, be further amended by repealing Section 19,
B-3 District and by replacing said Section 19 B-3 District with Section 19.1,
19.2 and 19.3, which shall hereafter be and read as follows:
Section 19.1 B-3 District: In the B-3 District the only uses
hich may nereafter be established are:
1. Uses permitted in the B-2 Districts.
2. Lodging house or hotel, withe sleeping rooms in number not
exceeding one (1) for each five hundred (500) feet of lot of
area.
3. Retail greenhouse or nursery.
4. Restaurant (except drive-in variety), tavern or confectionery.
5. Undertaking or funeral parlor.
6. Private music, dancing, business, vocational or other school
or college.
7. Temporary carnival or circus, operating not longer than ten
(10) days.

8. Parking lots for private self-propelled passenger automobiles
in operating condition.
Section 19.2 B-4 District: In the B-4 District the only uses
which may hereafter be established are:
1. Uses permitted in the B-3 District.
2. Advertising signs, billboards or poster panel
3. Animal hospitals
4. Automobile garage
5. Automobile service station
6. Automobile sales operation
7. Automobile laundries
8. Bowling alleys
9. Bus passenger station or passenger terminal
10. Lodge hall, temple (not to be confused with synagogue) or
private club
11. Commercial swimming pools
12. Drive-in restaurants
13. Trampoline centers
14. Miniature golf courses, golf driving ranges
15. Amusement arcades
16. Dance halls
17. Skating rinks
18. Dyeing and cleaning establishments
19. Laundries
20. Retail service establishments
21. Theatres
22. Retail business establishments except uses 2 to 13 inclusive
of Section 22.
Section 19.3 Prohibited Uses.

SECTION 2: That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
