RESOLUTION NO. 3-73
A RESOLUTION TO PARTICIPATE UNDER
THE ILLINOIS FIRE PROTECTION AND TRAINING ACT
WHEREAS, the Village of fVlount PYospect~ Cook Countyv 111inoi59 is
desirous of electing to participate in the program under the Illinois
Fire Protection ~nd Training Act, Public Act 77-1665, as enacted by
the 77th General Assembly of the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS. in order that the Village of Mount Pro ect be eligible for

that before an individual may commence regular employment as a fire
fighter, he must have been certified by the Illinois Fire Protection
Personnel Standards and Education Commission as having successfully
completed an approved training course; and
WHEREAS~ the Village of Mount Prospect ends to establish its own
school or to utilize some other school certified by said Commission
for the purpose of providing the training required" under said Act;
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF MOUNT PROSPECT, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the Village of Mount Prospect hereby elects to
participate in the program provided for in the Illinois Fire Protec-
tion Training act.
SECTION TWO: That before an individual may commence regular employment
as a fire fighter9 he must have been certified by the Illinois Fire Pro-
tection Personnel Standards and Education Commission, as having success-
fully completed an approved training course as provided in said Act.
SECTION THREE: That such basic training must be completed by the
tralnee within his probationary period of twelve (12) months.
SECTION FOUR: That the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners are
hereby instructed and directed to make the necessary amendments to
the Rules of said Board of Fire and Police Commissioners in order to
require that any person appointed to the Fire Department of the Vil-
lage of Mount Prospect shall not become a regular member of the Mount
Prospect Fire Department unless and until he shall have completed, pur-
suant to said Illinois Fire Protection and Training Act, the approved
training course within twelve (12) months of the date of his initial
employment.
SECTION FIVE: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
